NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--India's Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (500312.BY) and Petro Vietnam will jointly bid for BP Plc's (BP) assets in Vietnam, India's oil secretary said Tuesday. "We met with the prime minister of Vietnam and we had said we will work with Petro Vietnam (to buy BP's stake). We are discussing with BP and Petro Vietnam and also discussing with BP," S. Sundareshan told reporters on the sidelines of an event. He said formal bids are expected in a few weeks. BP has said the company plans to sell assets for up to $30 billion over the next 18 months, including those in Vietnam and Pakistan, primarily in the upstream business, as it seeks to fund mounting costs from the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. -By Prasanta Sahu, Dow Jones Newswires; +91-11-42563312; mukesh.jagota@dowjones.com (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 27, 2010 06:33 ET (10:33 GMT)
