HOUSTON, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Oil giant BP said onFriday it has started securing facilities and evacuatingnon-essential personnel from its drilling rigs and platforms inU.S. Gulf of Mexico as a precaution against a storm threat.
All other major producers in the area said they were stillmonitoring the weather and had not evacuated anybody.
The National Hurricane Center said a disturbance near Cubahas a 20 percent chance of developing into a cyclone in the next48 hours. (Reporting By Terry Wade and Liz Hampton)
