HOUSTON, Sept 4 (Reuters) - A blending oil unit shut sincean Aug. 27 fire at BP Plc.'s 413,500 barrel per day (bpd)Whiting, Indiana refinery returned to production by Thursdaymorning, said sources familiar with operations at the refinery.
The unit, which removes sulfur from distillate and gasoilstreams, was first reported back in production this morning byenergy industry intelligence service Genscape.
A small fire broke out on the 105,000 bpd Cat FeedHydrotreater on Aug. 27, shutting that unit and the blending oilunit. The Cat Feed Hydrotreater uses hydrogen to remove sulfurfrom gasoil fed into gasoline-producing fluidic catalyticcracking units in compliance with U.S. environmentalregulations.
