Barclays is set to launch a video banking service to some of their customers from next month. The service, the first of its kind in the UK, will be available from 8 December and will allow premier account customers to speak securely to bank staff at any time of the day.Steven Cooper, chief executive of personal banking at Barclays, said it would be a "watershed moment" in UK banking and that banks would "interact with customers completely on their terms, rather than ours"."While many of our customers are increasingly using digital channels to complete routine transactions, for the important moments, you just can't beat face-to-face conversations, yet traditional branch opening hours don't always give customers that choice," he said. The service, which will be made available to mortgage, business and wealth customers from early next year, will allow customers to communicate with the bank via their mobile phone, tablet or laptop.
