Administered on top of rosuvastatin treatment, AZD0780 showed a statistically significant reduction in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in plasma for test participants with hypercholesterolaemia, Astra says, while no serious adverse events were reported. "Elevated LDL-C levels in plasma is a key risk factor for cardiovascular disease and is estimated to cause 2.6 million deaths worldwide annually," Astra notes.
