You don’t know what you’ve got till it's gone

It is a very true saying that ‘You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone’. It could be the toy or gadget that, once it’s broken, you realise how much you miss it., The old girlfriend (I’m assuming most readers are male)…you know, the one that was really nice but you didn’t treat her as well as you should have. The elderly relative that you hardly visited as you just assumed they would always be there. I’m sure the list is endless... ...and the paper profits that you were so focused on increasing. Not being there wasn’t a consideration, the focus was on just increasing it that little bit more and, as the last few weeks have happened, they have disappeared. You are left thinking ‘What just happened?’, ‘If only I’d cashed them in’, and ‘Oh why didn’t I realise exactly what I had three weeks ago?’ Yes, I’m afraid that we only realise exactly what we had once it’s gone. So, on that note, how are others fairing in this climate? I have talked to some who are either experiencing similar drops in their portfolio or who are ‘treading water’ in their trading at the moment. Did we have too many rises too quickly? Has everyone sold for the holiday season? I’m sure some are doing well, but what is the general consensus out there? As ever, all thoughts are welcome.
