My long term view on CCE hasn’t changed since my one-off article on the company a few months ago. The recent news flow has continued to back up my initial feelings and I am looking forward to the upcoming developments regarding their energy storage system (via REDT). It was good to see REDT being given a 400k Euro award to develop a hybrid energy system for the Thaba Eco Hotel in South Africa, and more recently REDT has won the Irish Times Innovation Award for their patented liquid energy storage system, so even in these early stages of rollout of the system it seems it’s certainly on the radar for the future.^1-2 The company also unveiled a contract with Green Acorn to create energy storage for use alongside a photovoltaic system for a working dairy farm in Somerset.³ It was also interesting to read that Tesla Motors was diversifying into the energy storage arena after the company announced that it is due to build batteries to store solar energy – it seems that the world is slowly tuning into energy storage and CCE appears to be at the right place and at the right time.⁴ I am still listening.
