STOR Contract win from National Grid Renewable Energy Generation (AIM: WIND), the UK renewable energy developer and operator, today announces that its subsidiary REG Biopower ("REG Bio") has won two contracts with National Grid (NG) to provide Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR) using its innovative plant powered by waste cooking oil. STOR allows NG to source reserve power in pre specified seasonal time periods to meet actual demand when greater than forecasted or during unexpected plant breakdowns. Under the contracts REG Bio will receive an availability payment for standing by during STOR periods and a utilisation payment for any power generated. In addition REG Bio will be allowed to run its plant opportunistically outside STOR hours. REG Bio's existing 6MW plant in Suffolk and a new 2MW Leeds facility, which is expected to be operational from August 2011, will operate the STOR contracts. Andrew Whalley, REG Chief Executive Officer, said: "These contract awards firmly underpin REG Bio's existing plant and technology and potentially provides a solid foundation from which to grow our bioliquid business in the future. We are delighted to be partnering with NG and the provision of flexible capacity ideally complements our existing wind business." A further update on REG Bio and REG Wind will be issued in the Group's half year results, which will be announced on Monday 21 March 2011.
some big buys went through in wind last week - with greater broker coverage we should start to see more interest here which should push the sp up to a more sensible level. a no brainer in my eyes - gonna add all i can in the hope of a quickish 50% return.
Evolution Securities issued a "buy" rating for Renewable Energy Generation (WIND), the developer and operator of onshore wind farms in the UK, with a 82p target price. The broker notes that the group recently rejected a 67.7p bid approach. This, Evolution thinks, was the right move as the offer "very significantly undervalued" the business and failed to recognise the value of the firm's development pipeline and wind farms. With that said, if the company meets its capacity expansion targets over the next few years, it could add 10p per annum to the valuation, the broker added
was expecting another jump this morning after the coverage in the papers at the w/e. this is still a no-brainer for me. easy money!!
Two companies in alternative energy: Alkane m/cap £19m Renewable £45m. Both have t/o about £6m but Alkane makes a profit (repeat profit) of £2.1m compared to Renewables loss of £3m. Alkane's output of their main business is 120GWh (last year 95 GWh) compared to Renewables 39.3GWh (down from 41.1GWh the previous year). There also does seem to be a problem with energy price Renewable's v high fixed price deals are expiring, Alkane is fixing new deals higher than last year. Now Renewable do have £22m cash but that wont last long at this rate. I think the bidder should be relieved that their offer was turned down.
so 67.7p is way under valuation. 56p offers considerable upside then for a company with large cash supplies & little risk.
Ty for the post, going to look at article now, this is wonderful news about time this share has risen now needs to rise to its true protental
Rejection of approach Renewable Energy Generation (AIM: WIND), the UK renewable energy developer and operator, today announces that the Company received an indicative approach in January to acquire the Group, which has been rejected by the Board of the Company. The indicative proposal from a UK listed entity comprised a mix of shares and cash consideration and valued the Company at approximately 67.7pence per REG share. Having consulted with certain large shareholders, the Board rejected the proposal on the basis that it very significantly undervalued the Company. The Board of REG confirms that discussions with the potential offeror have now ended and the potential offeror has confirmed that it is no longer contemplating making or participating in an offer for the Company. The Board remains confident that its strategy of investing £100m into new UK renewable energy projects over the next two years whilst continuing to realise the latent value in its 560MW development pipeline is the best way to enhance shareholder value. As the potential offeror has confirmed that it is no longer contemplating making or participating in an offer for the Company, for the purposes of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers, the Company is not deemed to be in an offer period.

Big buy but no movement, all good news lets hope this moves up soon
We seem to be getting some interest in this share at last. Are investors realising the hidden value in this stock at last??!
A bad couple of days for this sector! The sp here still makes no sense at all given the extent of cash in the bank. One day the market will wake up to that though!
This 1 seems to move on very small volume. Anyone know how many shares are in the public domain? If its not many then that could explain it.
Thanks for that, always appreciated. Nice to have something to keep an eye on
Seems we are starting a steady climb up here but still some way to go before we reach a sensible sp. Bankies - very much agree with you on MONI & AUL - great future ahead for those two.
i really dont understand the current sp of WIND. i know there are loads of other shares valued at less than there cash position like WIND but this sector surely has a huge future which will bring big advances. like i said, this sp is baffling to sp but seems few other investors share this view!
my biggest loves are MONI, ACTA, AUL, & FDI do you own research of course but Moni is the retirement fund. GL
Thanks for sharing the love but I've finally dumped her! You're right there's plenty more fish in the sea and I need some action. of course I've been so occupied w the Banks that I'm not sure where to look just yet. All the best VW
is some love from me VW, just nothing seems to happen and there is money to be made elsewhere. I am watching closely and looking for a good entry point which on current form could be in the forties. I've been in and out a few times but I think this is longer term play. GL if our still in.
There's so little love for this share that no one even wants to post :-( Good bye the green revolution
Hi All, so what is going on with these shares. The volume seems to have picked up but it keeps flip flopping from a load of buys one day to a load of sells the next..... Wondering wether to stay in as I keep thinking this is gonna fly back up or try to make my loss back elsewhere. It feels so undervalued it has to be picked up soon right....? Any thoughts?
Sorry - really should proof read these messages a little better. The word 'bet' in the message below should read 'be'. You bet on Mickelson winning the Masters or 'Don't Push It' in the National... you should NEVER be 'betting' on shares! Tom
I opened a position here on Friday at 53.7p. Will top up if it keeps dropping. The company seems to have very sound fundamentals... and I am big on green energy. Very much a growth section IMO. The greatest challenge will be increasing the success rates of applications in the UK for new wind farms. There seems to be plenty in the pipeline - but I'd bet happier with a higher rate of success in both initial applications and appeals. Short term finance looks very good - but another issue appears to be longer term financing. Still - looks cheap at the current price. Let's see....
Very happy to top up in large volumes (relatively!) at this crazily low sp. Easy money over the medium term here IMOH.
