Avocet...
100% agree that debt is not a concern here...Free cash flow positive and the servicing of debt is part of the cost curve, costs that can ultimately be passed on to the end user.
Recession proof business who's picture improves even more if the central banks pivot next year, as the debt burden is on the long end.
dalesflyer, just had a look at some of the shares you've been showing an interest in itv, poly metal and saga, wow not very good success stories over the past few years and neither has vod been, but does seem to be a very low price at the moment ? everything's a bit of a gamble right now, but good luck whatever you choose
I hope i get a crystal ball for xmas
Longtime, fair comment, let's hope it turns out to be rewarding for us no matter which way it achieves it :-)
rob
''and then you say you have just bought in ?''
You were concerned about the share price if the dividend was cut.
I am not concerned if the dividend was stopped completely meaning the debt burden being less of a concern
fools

GOOD MORNING VIETNAM AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
LET'S MAKE IT A GOOD ONE.
IM STILL BEARISH ON THIS IM AFRAID BECAUSE THE FIRST RULE IS DON'T LOSE MONEY.
HOWEVER I COULD BE WRONG.
GOT NO IDEA.
DON'T FORGET GET TO WATCH BOT FLY LARVAE VIDEO ON YOU TUBE, THE BEST ONES ARE IN CATS
Hi Dan, the crankies come and go, but all the serious investors will still be here next year, hopefully a nice rise in the sp around spring time, remember only the hard as nails get on the top ten rampers list:-) or is it the fools ? never mind
have a good xmas and a happy and health new year Amigo
VOD has traditionally had a high level of debt. Management have never done anything about it, as its not a concern. And quite frankly I don't think it's a concern. VOD is a cash machine. Only derampers will quickly point to the debt load as something particularly concerning, when in reality its not.
Hello Rob. Thanks for your advice, but as you probably know, I don't believe in filtering, I am happy to let some posters on here just shoot themselves in the foot with there crazy posts. It was strange though when the moderators took down my post, criticising the sick bot fly post, as well the poster himself for making a joke showing a disturbing u tube video of a cat being infested with bot fly. I also got accused twice of being a boring K U N TZ, for pointing this out. This forum has degenerated to gutter level lately by some. Cheers Rob, & Have a great Christmas Amigo.
For being thick
Abject, what’s boring is watching a successful company in dire straights and looking at why that has been allowed to happen. Time after time here in the Uk. I blame policy of the last 60 years. Do the maths!
Yawn!
VOD will survive, on some form, but it’s in a ridiculous mess, literally stooping to giving away free internet, and the debt mountain is unforgivable. The board that caused this, whoever, should be sacked to never work in any company board again, imo.
The behaviour of Carltt is very concerning. A troll loses steam or interest. Only someone with a screw loose persists long term. This behaviour also occurs on BT and Polymetal boards too and has for a long time. I imagine he is doing the same on other boards too.
It is boring
Dan, use your filter button, stop feeding the troll and he will go away, and hopefully take his bot fly larvae with him
Carltt - Thanks for the input, one of the few on this that knows what he's talking about.
Do you think that Vodafone is going to zero or will it survive?
Thanks.
With such high debt levels, I believe Vodafone to be overpriced.
Speaking of overpriced turkeys:

longtimeinvester, @ you should be more concerned about the £45 Billion of debt
and then you say you have just bought in ?
''my biggest fear here is what will happen to the share price if the dividend is reduced or cut''
I've conditioned myself to expect a new CEO to cut the dividend, not because they need to, but because the market is pushing for it. There's no way the market would push a stock price down to a level yielding 10% dividend, if it wasn't pushing for a dividend cut in the background. If the dividend is maintained ad-infinitum then it's a bonus.
Disregarding the dividend, I'm more interested in finding out who the new CEO is, because I suspect there's more to Read going, out of the blue, than is speculated in the press. I'm still of the opinion that some sort of talking may have occurred between Verizon and Vodafone; Whether, or not, I continue to speculate on a merger between Vodafone and Verizon will depend on the appointment of the new CEO.
Gary, i would be quite happy for them to cut the dividend to pay down debt, providing of course that the share price benefits from it
will be an interesting new year for vod and the stock market in general, we all wait in anticipation for something good to happen
merry xmas
What an epic week Vod is having.
One bright point is that the £ is falling against the $ and euro. We need the euro and £ at parity at the end of January to boost the dividend payout. Come back Liz and Kwazi, all is forgiven ;)
The hungry caterpillar ate his share certificate in the wardrobe.
