Hi all
Absolutely cracking day here today :)
I said some time ago I would tell the story of my late dad and the dentist when this hit 50p…so
my old man was a little bald fella who had very large strong hands, he worked on the railway all his life and was a true grafter, no days off sick a proper bloke..
He was a very honest man with very strong principles, my old mum looked after him early doors, she would have his tea on the table and wash his clothes and send him off every day with his packed lunch (either cheese or ham sandwiches for 40 years) they were best friends..
Mum went down hill over a 14 period before she eventually died and my old man did absolutely everything for her, he would often say, I meant my wedding vows I made a promise to look after her in sickness and in health.. and he really did.
In his late 70’s he had tooth trouble, mother was getting sick and tired of him moaning on about it, so she insisted he went to see the dentist (he always called them the vets), he had some work done and ended up having a crown fitted, apparently the dentist really hurt him and to be fair he had a good pain threshold..
A couple of weeks passed and the crown fell out inc the post, the words he used to describe his dentist were very strong ones, I’m pretty confident he used every swear word I have ever heard, anyway he made another appointment to revisit..
So he’s now in the chair and he said to the dentist, “you hurt me last time” the dentist said “mr smith I promise I won’t hurt you” so the old man sits up and looks him in the eyes and said “ I tell you what! you but your balls in my hand nipper and we shall make a promise not to hurt each other”, apparently the dentist did not see the funny side, I pretty sure it was the last time dad ever went to the vets, he took to diy treatment from then on..
Later on in life he had prostrate cancer and the nurse explained to him that the treatment would mean he could never have an “erection” again, he simply put his huge hand over hers and said with a smile “at my age my love the only use for one of those is to stop me rolling out of bed”
My dad was a legend and I miss him every day..
Ob, lovely story mate, actually bought a tear to my eyes as you literally described my mum and dad. All the best mate.
kids nowdays do not have the respect we had for our parents nice read OB
OB, fantastic story, all the best
OB - , thats a lovely story/memory to have :o). Made me think of my nan and grandad they sound like they were similar in work ethic and humour
Thankyou for telling the story x
34 million market cap. Peanuts compared to our peers and where we should be. So much upside from here with limited downside following deal for Val 201.
Looks like something is up in the next day or two we shall soon find out. Good luck everyone.
OB - that was well worth the wait, thank you.
OB , that did make me chuckle! :) thanks man.
OB hilarious !!!!
Reminded me of a not to dissimilar story.
About 16 years ago my best mate Taff Jones was just one year shy of leaving the Royal Navy after 28 years full service. He was a Chief Petty Officer at the time.
Anyway.......he opted to have the snip 'free of charge' before leaving the job and was at some naval hospital when the surgeon came in and started to explain the procedure to him, at one point holding his nuts in his hand while drawing out the incision lines as he talked it through. Taff then looked at him and said, and I quote, "You know its a funny thing. I joined the Navy 28 years ago today.......and you lot had me by the *******s then to!!" Lol
Surgeon burst out laughing and was still roaring when he left the room. Taff later said he was nervous he would start chuckling again during the cut !! All went well lol
Hi all
Many thanks for your kind reply’s, and sorry for the typos ;)
It was 14 years btw…
So now on topic, 80p ish is IMO the limit before news, whats the general feeling when a deal hits, sp wise?
OB
Im just wondering because it went mad in the last couple of hours could there been a little leak??
Very possible D-O
It did seem out of the blue?
Yes there was - but Tennor pads work wonders.
I Think shorting should be made illegal? How can it be allowed on people betting on a company to fail its wrong in all departments..
Your dad was clearly a legend OB x
Thanks grace
You are aware that the x will give RB more ammunition lol..
Good fun here ATM… I trust your enjoying yourself?
I have a funny feeling £2.36 will come around quicker than I thought?
OB
Yes I’m fully aware ha! I’m well equipped to cope with a bit of ribbing from RB :)
Having a lovely time thank you! Better start collecting conkers for the party ;)
I have the tee shirt ready …oh yes!
OB have you decided on what neck of the woods this party will be??
Can I suggest Nuneaton.....home of Valirx, we may bump into the team !!!
Hmmm
Well I feel because £2.36 was my target and I live near to Southampton, it should be around that area… perhaps the new forest ?
However I’m an easy kinda bloke so I’m up for suggestions? But we should not count our chickens just yet ;)
OB
Wooooooooooooow you twos starting a bit early arnt you.
Jesus have a bit of decency please, I know it’s after the watershed but come on.
Ha Brilliant story OB where have all the alfa males gone.
Grace we even have a lady NASC chairwoman now.
So the odd x thrown around can do no harm x
I need it to be £2.36 so i can afford the travel lol
As a long term holder (currently around 1%) I still can’t quite believe we are where we are today. Don’t want to jinx it by booking the train for Nuneaton yet, but if we ever get to £2.36 I’ll certainly be heading up there with a few bottles of champagne :)
Thanks to everyone inside and outside of Valirx for the work done to change the direction of this company!
