I dislike comments like 'I find that strange', because there is a clear implication behind the statement but not backed up by the conviction of actual words.
Your implication appears to be that they lack of activity must be because of some malign reason like perhaps they've decided this whole thing can't be done, and decided to violate all laws of the market by not revealing this and making continuing public statements that would be totally misleading and lies.
OR... perhaps there is a more pedestrian explanation, like the preparation of the site doesn't take very long and the HSE will be on-site to inspect right away, because they are planning everything very carefully.
Even if you don't think I'm right, there is no reason or logic behind supposing anything malign is going on.
Well if that’s the case expect another wait for EA permit approval after they’ve inspected the bunded areas. Alternatively, they don’t plan to flow oil, just recommence the gas test, which would explain why they don’t need tank bunds.
They will also be leaving all prep till the absolute last minute, as they'll need police support for the entire operation. They will be planning everything to happen in as compressed a period of time as possible. This will mean not coming in to do site prep right until all other permits and equipment are ready.
This is how this will play out. Radio silence, and then a massive flurry of urgent activity.
Exactly, and they aren’t going to fill the wellpad up with a clutter of equipment to sit there inactive, costing money, while they construct tank bunds and do other preparatory work.
As I said. Preparatory work will need to be done before convoys of wagons enter the site with new equipment that they are not ready for because they don’t have bunded areas. The bunded areas will need to be inspected by the EA and verified that they are suitable and able to hold the minimum requirement of 75% of the volume of the largest tank within the bund.
I was expecting them to have done all this by now. They’ve had 5 months to build tank bunds on the wellpad but they’ve built feck all. I find that strange.
I would expect to see evidence of preparatory work at the wellpad before mobilization of equipment to recommence any planned testing operations.
For example: If they plan to flow oil then they need storage tanks. Any oil storage facility on the wellpad will need to be sited within a Bunded area for spillage containment. I dont see any. Unless they have made us wait five months just to resume the gas test. Which would be very disappointing. I think the market is expecting evidence of flowed liquid hydrocarbons here at minimum and I think most investors are expecting an oil flow test on the 45M oil column they say we have. I think anything less will be greeted with disappointment.
Honestly you can go around in circles or it can go through fast. Last thing I want to here is they are applying.
Typically the EA will be looking at things like waste management and disposal, ground remediation plans etc. The regulations will be well-known to the partners in this drill and no doubt they'll have designed the new test program accordingly. Any EA objections would take the form of amendments, which the company would make to the plan accordingly. This isn't a binary pass/fail thing.
ST: Thanks. I'll have a look through this 81 page EA document as soon as I am supple enough! All the best, GP.
Does anyone on here know precisely what an EA Variation Permit is, please? For example, what sort of things can be asked for? Maybe it's only minor changes, but would that include a pump? How long do these variation permits take to be issued, and do we know when ours was requested. I ask because I'm a bit worried that any request to the EA might have been made quite recently. Also, is a variation permit a simpler matter to get than an addition to an existing EWT permit? Anyone with some definite info please comment - but enough of the guesswork!
