My alarm bells are ringing louder now....
You see the chief executive of Ukrainian state energy giant Naftogaz has accused Russia’s Gazprom of using natural gas as a geopolitical weapon. They have called on the America and Germany to take action against Moscow while it awaits regulatory approval for a controversial pipeline project. Ukraine's people will go very hungry and some will die.
Watchy watchy....when Boris tells people 'don't panic' ...we panicked. I do not think I have to explain that here, turn on your news channels this morning.
What a fool Boris looked using Kermit the frog to get his message across on green policies. Kwasi Kwarteng was a worrying watch too giving evidence to the business, energy and industrial strategy committee in the Commons last Wednesday.
My thought really is, will our country be bought to it's knees further with a refusal of a significant gas find by a group of amateur councillors against planners recommendation .
And remember that the LPA Officers report states that even though ERYC have declared a climate emergency the application needs to be assessed against current policy. The climate change emergency will be addressed by 'future' planning policy.
AKA at this point in time means nothing.
Read the serious commentary and you will realise that Russia does comply with its obligations on pipeline gas supplies to Europe.
Then analyse the price increases.
Norway will supply Europe first, UK come second.
My alarm bells rung more this afternoon with info.
Stay cool peeps...there's much worse to come.
Energy Security for the UK.

The necessity of gas is becoming better understood in the past few days.
Turning to all green energy has affected investment in to producing companies.
Companies have considered it shameful to invest in the production of coal, gas and oil.
This is a BIG, BIG mistake
Vote so far :
Heid Oil 72.9%
Ruth Hayhurst 27.1%
many thanks RNST, very interesting insights

Although we don't have figs from the EDR or UJO, here are some general numbers.
From the EIA: Natural Gas: about 7.5 cu ft of gas to make 1 kWh. This includes power plant inefficiency. (we don't actually know the latter).
So, if this is correct, that's 480,000 cu ft per day should produce 64000 kWh per day. Wholesale prices are currently in the 5-8p per kWh at present, and of course we don't know what their sale price actually is or if its is floating or fixed..so that's likely a range of £3000-£5000 per day in revenue gross, I presume they are leasing the generator??.
64000 kWh from gas produces 0.185 kg Co2 per kWh, so that's about 11.5T of Co2. current UK ETS costs are about £52/T, so that's about £600/day in emissions costs leaving £2400-£4400/day before lease costs (if any) so that's £1000-£1800 a day net to UJO.
We don't actually know as they don't tell us what the numbers are... but this should give an approximate ball park at least.

Its difficult to sell the gas as gas, because it will need to be cleaned up to entry spec, and piped to an entry point, so the only real alternative (as flaring can only be done in extremis) is to use it power a generator to produce electricity for the grid... they will also need to purchase emissions credits as they will be emitting CO2. Because production is 24/7 the gas powered electricity has to be put into the grid 24/7 rather than act as a peak producer (££) , so the value of the electricity is less as there is no strategic element. Its difficult to know the value as they really haven't published any financial details of their gas to wire...
thx rnst, so currently we should focus of the 884bpd whereas the gas is being burnt to generate electricity as I understand it. So until the gas is being sold rather than being burnt is it fair to say that the gas is just a sideshow?
6000 cu ft of gas is the average Energy equivalent (not the value equivalent) of 1 bbl of oil
Hi, can anyone explain how 480,000 cubic feet of gas equates to c. 80 barrels of oil equivalent per day, thx.
Don't laugh at me.
Etch-a Sketch?
No.

UK taking this serious at last.
Keeping eye on Russia I would guess.
