Special dividends are separate from the recurring dividend cycle which tesco would pay to its shareholders but the share price hasn't shot up on this good news unfortunately so it looks like a no.
Captain,
No we are not. It is going straight into the coffers to strengthen the balance sheet. Not knowing what the short and medium term will bring then retention is probably the best use of the money.
Freedom what you mean By special dividend !! And also a lot people selling them sh
A wink and 1p it's back up to 228 now
Hello everyone ,
I have Q? Are we getting Dividend today after selling from Poland guys !!
Thanks a lot
Are you saying a 2p movement is as good as a wink?
Could a special divi be heading our way sp went up to 229 but is now back down to 227
this morning Tesco could not even manage to hold onto a 3p rise..... so far and it's still early.....
so 1p per day from now till next Thursday is fine as long as it's blue days, slow steady climb, then results day, boom - UPwards please.
It is interesting to find out if TSCO share price will break 230p as it has been ranging between 222p and 228p.
not bad but i need another few more pennies for today, but the whole market mood is not helping for now.
230 Blimey I need a stiff one . I think I’m hallucinating!
I see in the Supreme Court yesterday Sainsbury and co won a ruling against MasterCard and others for the fixed fee charges they charge every time a debit card is used etc . As a result will be seeking damages going back to 1992!.?
So with the Leigh day Equal pay claim against the supermarkets should they win that only goes back 6years from the day you put your claim in imagine that went back to 1992 I’d be minted!
The latest on this is a judge has ordered two Adjudicators to assess whether the work is equal . Leigh day has asked Tesco to supply the relevant information so that they can choose a similar Distribution centre to a store but alas Tesco has refused . So they have asked a judge to order them to do so.
Tesco selling and pulling out of Poland, seems the polish business was loss making and selling for £181ml.
No special div on this sale!
Will be frowned upon if tesco announce fantastic profits and iam sure results will be played down so don't expect fireworks but do expect tesco to do the right thing..
lots of shares having a huge blue day.... Tesco cannot barely manage a 3p rise!!!!!
sell on good news is what i've gone by, so am in till 26th, maybe 3rd july latest.
Regarding the sp on results day. We have roughly 8 working days till it arrives. I realise the market isnt efficient etc and TSCO is sometimes v v v v v defensive in its sp movements - but if the results are as strong as lots of the chatter, the market doesnt agree - i would hope to see the sp creeping up from now - or, the market doesnt think there is anything special not already in the price.
240p would restore faith, 250p magic but tbh 236p and i am probably out of here - just a little too steady for me and despite turnaround over statement, i dont see a long term protection from the so called discount trend.

Having mentioned wine at Tesco, i noticed at the weekend, they are using wine in an M&S style dine for £10 range, starter, main, side and drink (3 choices of wines, coke bottles or peroni bottles) so to me as a customer was a no brainer to get a £7 bottle of wine with a starter, main and cheese cake for an extra £3.... result. Good value like that could help the store so wine offer not on. BUT i do get what you are saying that the 25% off when you buy 6 bottles is great for the customer.
Good Luck All,
fingers crossed we shoot past 235p (Ex-DIVI Day price) and onwards to 250-260p
I shop once a week at Sainsbury (Tesco car park is poor) and for the last couple of weeks i have taken the last 3 bottles of Hoegaarden and i have not seen any bottles of Leffe for weeks, so yes i am convinced there are supply issues. If its a choice between a bottle of Leffe and a Pineapple from Peru i know which i would prefer.
Role on the update.
Hi
I really hope you are right. However I have noticed on shopping that both my local sainsbury and tesco small stores have absolutely no discounting on wines. Apart from the fact i have to engage brain to choose now, to me this could be worth noticing - in the 9 years i have lived here this has never happenned.
I am wondering if the revenues are pumped up as all the non-retail food of pre-covid is now in supermarket sales, but that the resultant costs ran out of kilter - hence no discounts to the wine to uplift margin to a more acceptable position with no regard in short term for customer retention. Wine often a local store loss leader. Maybe this is only in my stores or a result of wine supply chain issues but for me it puts a warning flag on the profit margin. Hope i am wrong as i would like to see a little rise (who wouldnt).

Yes roll on the 26/6, they should be cracking?
Results should send this to 260
Will wait then thank you for your reply.
You are not taking into account what the circular said. Indeed, we won't have much of a clue until after the regulators have had their say, the new circular is disseminated and the second general meeting gives final approval or otherwise.
Hi Rosewall so with 5billion being returned to shareholders and 2.5 billion being used to clear pension deficit that leaves .5 billion which means shareholders should be 6% better off as the deal is worth 8 billion is that correct?
Jstar
In general, you are correct. In this instance, there are a number of additional variables which, if you had read the circular, you would know and commented on.
