Estimates of sales now vary from lowest @ 560k to highest @ 781k what's not to like about this ?
No doubt we will find out the true figure at the end of the month.
Nearly two weeks after its release, Balatro has now sold over 500,000 copies across all systems.
The roguelike deckbuilder hit half that amount within a few days of release, and it has been helped by plenty of positive buzz. Hours after it came out, it had already made $1 million in revenue.
Developer LocalThunk previously called their game's success "incredibly overwhelming." While not their first game overall, it's the first one they made available to the larger public.
As for publisher Playstack, it stands as the most successful title in the company's portfolio since it started eight years ago.
Owner estimations seem to vary widely from the 4 on SteamDB the lowest is VG insights at 415,900 the highest by Gamalytic at 767,600
No doubt the true figure wil out ot the month.
433,000 units sold, £5M gross revenue in 2 weeks!
Maybe people have now woken up tp the fact that Trufin is sitting on a very udervalued goldmine with Oxygen,Satago and Playstack ?
Can't wait for the figures at the end of March.
What's going on with the trades today???
This has already overtaken Mortal Shell revenues, now stating $4.3M revenue for Balatro, against $3.8M revenue for Mortal Shell. Quite incredible really, and an unexpected hit for Playstack I'm guessing.
It does,Vginsights now saying 378,000 units sold !
It does, Vginsights now saying 378,000 units sold .
That’s brilliant lets hope it continues 🤞
And another 40,000 units sold in the last 24 hrs !!!!
...so that's about 10,000 sales a day, not a bad income stream.
Thanks Big Slick,
VGINSIGHTS now showing 317,000 sales
If they secured a really good deal for themselves that can hurt them in the future, a good business is a fair business you live and die on your reputation
It isn’t a fact I just used previous examples from the gaming industry, it’s possible they got up to 40% to start with tapered off to 20% after expenses are recovered.
It really depends how well the creators were represented in the negotiations
According to vginsights.com 296,000 units have been sold so that gives us a gross take of US D 4,144,000 @ 14 dollars a unit.
Does anyone know what Playstacks take is of this ?
Someone sugested 20 % but is that speculation or a fact?
Looking forward to the figures in a few weeks.
Net Revenue now $2.5M after 7 days......

Since its launch on Steam on February 20, 2024, Balatro has taken the gaming community by storm, with astounding sales figures. According to GameSensor's forecast, Balatro sales raked in nearly $2 million within its first three days on the platform, a testament to its widespread appeal. What's more, Balatro has sold close to 100,000 copies during this brief period on Steam, solidifying its position as a top contender in the casual strategy genre.
Balatro's meteoric rise isn't just confined to its sales figures; the game has garnered praise from both players and critics alike. Boasting a stellar 5-star rating on Steam and an impressive 8.6 points out of 10 on Metacritic, Balatro has struck a chord with gamers worldwide. Critics have hailed its innovative gameplay mechanics, awarding it an impressive 88 points out of 100 possible, further cementing its status as a must-play title.
At its core, Balatro is a hypnotically addictive deathmatcher that seamlessly blends the thrill of illegal poker with the excitement of roguelike elements. It's worth noting that while Balatro on Steam currently supports only English, its universal appeal knows no bounds.
“Cash at year end is no less than £9m, of which unrestricted cash is no less than £5.5m, and the Group is fully funded to profitability” looking good
Net Revenue for Balatro is already $2M in just one week......
It might slow the cash burn down for a bit so I’m happy with that
You do realise playstack are only the publishers so they take around 20% whilst the creators have the rest, not saying that isn’t significant but there’s plenty of games that cost more to publish than they ever return.
Agreed Madpad, I've just invested an initial amount in to Trufin based on the release of Balataro. It's generating significant income, and has only been out for a week, incredible....!
Balatro is now the 35 th most played game on Steam (there are over 7.000 )and is top of the trending list.
Let's hope future releases have this kind of success
Balatro sold over 250,000 copies in the first 72 hours
