WH Ireland re-iterated its "buy" stance and 115p on Tribal Group (TRB), believing collaborations with a potential US partner could open a number of new doors for the public sector-focused technology provider. The broker notes the group is acting knowledgably around maximising new routes to additional clients, with recent initiatives suggesting that it has the potential to grow its existing business in Tennessee across the US. WH Ireland concluded by pointing out the business continues to trade at a significant discount to the other companies in the sector, further bolstering the argument that the shares offer significant upside potential.

WH Ireland holds a "buy" stance on technology business Tribal Group (TRB) with a 115p target price, noting that last year's disposals mean that only a focused, good quality business remains. The broker notes that Tribal's specialist services division represents a significant future growth opportunity and that its 9.6 times earnings multiple reflects the concerns of the past rather than the business today
He added, "Our current trading is in line with our expectations for 2012...we anticipate our profits will be weighted towards the second half of the year, and Tribal has good potential to make further progress over the medium term." Tribal said it now has a simplified two-division structure established, focusing on its core education, learning and training markets. A dividend of 1p has been recommended, down from 2.5p the previous year.
Analysts had forecast annual pre-tax profit of £8.52m and revenue of £112.5m. Commenting on the trading environment chief executive Keith Evans said, "Whilst the macro-economic environment has been uncertain during 2011, our products and services demonstrated resilience in mixed market conditions."

We have restructured the business, focusing on our core strengths in the education, learning and training markets. Our cost base is leaner, we have simplified our organisational structure, and our strategy to build on our market leading technology assets and strong service related intellectual property is clear. "Whilst the macro-economic environment has been uncertain during 2011, our products and services demonstrated resilience in mixed market conditions. Our financial performance improved and, with revenue growing by 4% and adjusted operating margins rising to over 10%, we concluded 2011 with trading performance ahead of our earlier expectations. "Our UK markets are responsive to our product and service propositions, and we have identified good opportunities to develop new products and services over the medium term. We have also established strong positions in our chosen international markets, and are seeing good opportunities for continued growth. "Our current trading is in line with our expectations for 2012, which will continue to be a period of investment in our products, people and our international presence. As a result of seasonality in our business, and our programme of investment, we anticipate our profits will be weighted towards the second half of the year, and Tribal has good potential to make further progress over the medium term."
