I've been looking around for some decent buying opportunities and am wondering if this is one. It appears to be one of the few in the sector trading at a decent discount to NAV. I hold JLEN, DORE and GSF amongst others so familiar with similar funds. I'd be keen to understand why this is at such a discount to its peers given there are no obvious red flags and it was at a premium not that long ago.
Thanks Slikoil, agree this looks a solid investment prospect. Might have to use the wife's ISA allowance for this one I think.
Not an expert on TEEC assets but my understanding is that income not specifically inflation indexed since most seem to be debt finance at fixed interest rates. However at current share price I am happy to receive annual dividend of 6.5%, share price should rise from here plus scope for additional dividend from gearing provided by recent RCF. I have recently invested on this basis .
Good question teamwork, I wonder if it might be part of a "commercial in confidence" contract or something similar? Agree with you that cap & collar arrangements, for companies that use them, represent a big risk in an environment of high & rising inflation such as we have now. Trouble is, governments with high borrowing (such as our own) need a period of rising inflation to water down the effects of the repayments, so I think we're stuck with it for now.
I'm wondering if the income that TEEC receives is inflation-linked and if so, is that link subject to a cap and collar (in which case it's not a true inflation-link). I have just been skimming through the last financial reports but couldn't find an answer to my questions. I recently looked at US Solar Fund and was disappointed that their power has all been sold on PPAs with an average life of 14.4 years, so it seems to me that they will not benefit from any rising power prices.
Thank you @K - yes it is a very quiet board. Obviously partly due to some brokers who don't even list this, I had to go to X-O to buy. I know you look into the finances much deeper than I do, but I would say it is one to keep an eye on. If the price remains at this level I will add before the next dividend. Although, like most similar companies, I can see fundraisers coming.
TEEC seems to be flying under the radar currently. Assuming a total dividend of 5.5p the yield is above 6% and looks to be an interesting alternative to GSF. Thanks for the heads-up adv11, I'll be looking to get in here when funds allow. K
