Hello all,
I put a call out for views last week. I'm a business reporter at The Sunday Times and we are writing about Sirius in this weekend's paper.
I am looking to speak to small shareholders to get their views — especially those who live locally.
If you're happy to have a quick chat you can reach me at: liam[dot]kelly[at]sunday[hyphen]times[dot]co[dot]uk.
All the best,
Liam
Hello Liam,
I wish Sunday Times had reached out lot earlier, it may be too late for your readers to get idea of pain and havoc this takeover has caused not only to local but up to 85,000 private investors. But I'll email you my family views.
Hi Liam, I emailed you last weekend with my thoughts. Hopefully from my email you got the gist of how shareholders are feeling. We really do need to show that this is about investors (who weren’t stupid by the way) who researched, thought very carefully, read company presentations, u tube - anything Sirius wise. We were all so interested and passionate about the project and it was long term for many of us. Something to pass down to our families or our pensions. You can see by the reaction from so many investors how devastated they are. I’m glad I don’t live near the mine, I feel so sorry for those local investors who will have to see day by day how it progresses and be reminded of how they have no further interest in it now when some of them have been involved since before planning. It’s simply not right and I do hope that you spend time finding out that out. This should be put out there in the Sunday Times to show that many people simply won’t get over this and ordinary people from all walks of life should not be treated in the way that Sirius shareholders have. Everyone deserves proper communication and answers to their question plus complete transparency from all parties in their investment - especially when they own 50% of it.
Fred,
The really sad thing here is that the realisation of this enormous economic resource lying beneath the feet of all Brits has been made possible largely through the funding by us Brits, many local and many from all around the country. If the ownership continues to reside with the current shareholders then the revenues from this operation will contribute around £4bn pa to the British economy. Taxes will be fully paid in this country and a large proportion of dividends will be distributed in this country for 100 years. Those dividends will largely be spent locally and drive the local economy. The people who have committed their pensions and savings to the project, and the country as a whole, will benefit for years to come. If AAL pick this up for the pittance that they are offering, the resource will become a cash cow for yet another large multinational that will use the revenues to fund development of other resources elsewhere in the world and will offset those costs to avoid paying taxes in this country. I know they are a British company but anyone who thinks they will behave any differently to the Amazons of this world etc when it comes to paying taxes are living in a dream world. The dividends that are paid will not be paid locally and will not feed the economy.
DunnaRunna, I have just spoken to Liam from The Sunday Times but I’m not local. He really needs local investors to contact him. Are you local because you would be great?
Good on you Fred I'm sure yours would have been measured comments !
ffc
Hope some local investors ring him because it’s a good chance to put our point across

That's a shame OR as I think there is not much you don't know about this project or the goings on over a good few years !!
Liam . Peoples investment sorrows , are all over these boards . Dont take this the wrong way , but it looks like lazy journalism to me , the really story ere is what as happened since april 19 . Open offer , jpm rcf , which were attached to bonds 500 mill which were put to the market first week in August , well none for being a hoilday period world wide in the bond markets , no other attempt since to raise bonds, highbridge shorting sirius . Who are an associated company of jpm , allso how long have aal been in the room with fraser whilst all this as been going on ,why the consurtium offer december and january never put to share holders , go put some ground work in, you may unravell some unscruplus going on s ere, come on interviewing a few pensioners on how much they have lost , its not really journalism, sorry if i sound harsh
I agree OR - we want a local investor who as Scott says knows about Sirius and understands the business side - what’s gone on - and you do and your local
Im not local fred i live in lincolnshire ,not far away, the finacial s in the last year could be better explained by some on ere , in a better educated manner than me , the finance since last april is the real story , the losses are a story of course ,but fraser and the bod is the real journalism ere
I’m hoping in my email to Liam last weekend and my conversation tonight I conveyed that message in my own way but would be good to have that reinforced by someone local who is also more of an experienced investor - after all many of Sirius investors are not the ‘not very well informed shareholders’ Mr Cutifani seems to think we are
Ive put a suggestion on sharesoc fred,
Already messaged her Scott!
