Appears to be confirming exactly what I said on Oct 14th
well, you look as tho you missed the great bottoming here lol
extraordinary discount to book given solid (if not wildly exciting) franchise across second tier emerging markets that no competitor is likely to bother to enter aggressively (why would they bother??)
Answer. Yes Yes Yes and quite a significant loss but towards the end of next year a return to more profitable trading and a resumption of the dividend.
What makes you so sure? Are you expecting a loss in Q3 earnings?
SumoverHistories:. Answer No. See my note 30July :Next year YES around Spring
Steady share price increases here over the past 7 trading days. Can this get back to 430 or maybe even 460 prior to earnings on 29th October?
nice play in my view
banks have been hammered
to ridiculous price to books
& STAN has literal geographic moats
scattered across the emerging markets
tp £10 (in a few years lol)
Of the three you quote it would be GSK for me from an investment point of view but
I have always had a soft spot for AZN
P.s. Unilever are very cheap !
Ha, ha, Sedaka, Yes after a rush to the head I will probably stay put . As you say next year should be better. The one company that is very undervalued at the moment is GSK.
Which is my major holding and the split will happen soon which will give shareholders a foot in two good companies.
Seaking1 If you intend to sell at a steep loss I would suggest that it may be beneficial to do it before the next results unless you are preparing for some kind of Hari Kari exercise.
I shall be maintaining my holding even with Brexit , Covid19,Trump/ sanctions,China ,Hongkong, Putin,Kim the little rocket man,no dividend or buybacks this year and anything else that will cause grief.
2021 will be much better for this share and anyway Unilever and AstraZeneca are hardly cheap . Furthermore I want you to stay on this board as noone else, apart from BruceJamieson whose views are well known on other boards, hardly ever appears here.
One way or another I will be offloading I think at a steep loss or small loss after the next results. That’s assuming I can get into a blue chip at a low sp, Unilever, gsk, AstraZeneca etc.
I see the Hsbc board less enthusiastic about China's view on hi now
The sp for this company is becoming in my view ridiculous. I will just have to stick and hope for the best. The reasoning behind my thinking is when you consider the last results and the geographical area in which they operate then I find it hard to understand why the sp is where it is. On a brighter note with the weakness in the sp maybe there may be sharks now circulating around Standard, meaning Chinese banks. Just thinking , so no abuse please.
Exactly and this is not what the community wants.
Surely the interest of Shareholders and Communities in which they operate is the prime consideration of a BOD. The correct decision has been made whatever one thinks of China and the CCP
What about the treaty that is not simply politics. Prefer to have lost the war to Nazi Germany?
I fully support the stance taken by HSBC and Standard Chartered. Imv politics should play no part in the decision of their best interests for the Shareholders and the Communities in which they operate as long as it within the Laws of that Country
Well done Aviva for criticising standstd and hsbc for supporting the Chinese gov't. Both shares should be boycotted by new investors. and where are the critics here onbyhis board. You lily livered lot
I’m still 2 and 1/2 grand down so I’m not going anywhere for awhile.
I refer back to my comments of April 29th which still stand. Just do not get too excited by this recent rise in the SP. Caution is still the best policy regarding investment in this Company for the next few months.
Amazing , mention that you will abide by China’s laws and the sp goes up .shows just how fickle the whole system is. Then if you want to play in their backyard then you have to follow the rules.
One great thing is that standard will make great gains in Indonesia which is massive .
Still the same, HSBA and STAN are great long term opportunities at current prices.
Stockplay what do you think now ?
same price I bought HSBC. Yes risky, but the HK situation drove the SP disproportionally lower on fear and if this is not the bottom, we are close to it.
