Docdaneeka... I agree... MP's a waste of time.
If any one has any journalists/press as friends.... IMO that is the route. Journalists love to be given an angle to write about, they can't keep coming up with stories on their own, and most of them are quite lazy... so presenting them with a 'scandal' to write about would be doing them a favour. Look how interested and outraged we all were in the Remdesivir article posted here today.
Sadly I only know sports journo's... but if any of you know financial, health or pharma journo's it's worth a go.
Docdaneeka - you are right, the time for lobbying is past. My error. Patience now.
DOC- it won't be that slow and frustrating. We've been told it could be done and dusted in around 2 months from start date in November tbc. Firm delivering the trial has done a couple of these trials in 2 month timeframes so their is precedence.
I have tried and followed up a couple of times, no more though. They will be contacting us when all the good results arrive regarding patient protection... IMHO
I think people need to also keep in mind that big positions are currently being taken in SNG by insti's/hedge funds etc. The daily trading patterns/spreads since the placement have been very unusual. Next week all will be revealed about who has taken a position in SNG and how they can help in driving forward this phase 3 trial/bringing drug to market. PI sentiment at the moment is irrelevant IMO.
I didn't write to my MP as a shareholder but as a constituent keen for a promising treatment to be elevated and supported.
And I have posted about SNG001 on all my social media pages as well as the home trial invitation link from Synairgen's FB page. Not desperate and dignity intact.
Your dignity. All seems rather sad and desperate "Please support SNG so that I can make some money".
I am a huge SNG fan, but I’m not sure what we will achieve writing to MPs, you will just get a polite “we are looking into it” response. They are not going to give the drug approval or funding because MOs ask questions. If you have some energy for campaigning, the most effective route is to publicise the at home trial on your personal social media. If every person here found just one patient SNG could help, the trial would be filled within a week. We expect the results to be fantastic and that will generate lots of media and influence- the best PR for SNG is more data.
All IMVHO! ;)
Emailed my MP, what is there to lose !!!!
I'd be careful in pushing this too hard, we're past the point of any news is good news and sometimes overeager 'marketing efforts' can spell desperation and have the opposite effect
I had a reply from mine saying that they are aware of it but the trial was small and it is awaiting peer review. Looked like a copy and paste reply. This was from a tory MP's office. I think the best question to ask is why they are throwing so much money at accelerating vaccines but not throwing loads of money at accelerating treatments.
From SNG's point of view I'm not concerned as I think the company will do well without government support and they have plans in place that we all know about. But as someone in a tier 3 area where the virus is rife (I read in the local paper this morning that 1 in 40 in our county are testing positive with the ONS random testing), I wish the treatment was widely available as I would feel more relaxed knowing that people can have access to it.
I have tried again ... we should all be doing this, again and again. My thanks to previous posters for text ideas:
Dear xxx,
I wrote to you on October 16th and 19th asking you to pursue this question with the Secretary of State for Health.
With the exception of the US drug Remdesivir, which has been shown to be largely ineffective, our government as well as the media appear to be interested only in the progress of vaccines, but not in the treatments which are also desperately needed.
Southampton company Synairgen's SNG001 is a nebuliser containing a natural substance (interferon beta 1a) that is simply inhaled directly into the lungs. It had spectacular results in its phase 2 trial, where it stopped Covid-19 in its tracks for 79% of those hospitalised patients who were given it, and from that and other trials, we know that it is safe.
A phase 3 trial across 20 countries involving 900 patients starts in November.
This treatment has the potential to keep patients both at home and in care homes from needing hospital admission and to lead to far better outcomes. Its use in hospitals would also dramatically reduce the number of patients requiring intensive care.
I ask you again: why is our government still silent on this treatment for Covid19?
Kind regards,
