The share price of Barrick has fallen 4% since Wed (the day mentioned in the RNS) and the pound has gone back to 1.30. At first sight this doesn't look a great deal.
The Board of Randgold is recommending an all share merger at rock bottom prices. No doubt those on the board will receive handsome financial rewards. Good deal for Barrick
Let's see if the stories are true and what it would mean to the rrs sp.
Presuming this would be a positive for shareholders of RRS ? May be the catalyst to get this moving north again.
There is a rumour flying about that Barrick and Randgold are about to merge. Dunno if it’s true.

According to my calculations which are invariably wrong, this share is about 17% below its 12 month mean. Bearing in mind the decline in profits from the previous year, the rise in forecast profits for next year, the uncertainty over Brexit and the fact that there is an R in the month, I expect it to trundle up to 6000 by March 2019. That, plus the expected 2% dividend, should provide me with a total gain of about 24%.
Gotta run. Emilia Clarke is standing on the doorstep in her birthday suit and wants to know if I have plans for this evening.
DBNO, looks like we are on the right wavelength here, I'm with FRES & HOC, almost went with RRS, expecting a little bit of downside first thing tomorrow but should close the week very strongly IMO....GLA
I paid 48.18 for 10k of these the other day. Last few investments have been a disaster, hopefully this bucks the trend
noooo if gold closes above 1214 then 1235.24-41.64 area next.
i think some resistance in the 1220s. i may click the sell button then..
This share is close to touching my predicted support level of 4555.
Gold is currently going through a bear market.
Even less not. Hmm. Hope she goes up again.
around $700/oz reported, the company have said for a while they have a "10-year business plan which is profitable at a long term gold price of $1 000/oz" but I am not convinced they will strengthen given issues with the governing regime and the continual fall in value of assets and write-offs on the books. HGM are paying a 4.7% interim dividend thereabouts, benefit from the rouble weakness and should continue to chip away at net debt. They are my lifeboat recently in the current climate of falling miners like RRS, FRES, CEY, HOC etc
Whats is the ASIC for rrs? thanks
Or not.
On the road back up again now. 😉
Trump and US economy leading a charmed life . Bubble will burst. This is not fake news. Hold for the gold.GLA.
Genuine question. When are we expecting Gold price to recover? Also when is the next major election? I watched this share rally before a major election because of uncertainties.
This is gonna yo yo quite a bit. Traders with no long term intensions here will be in charge for a bit. When gold rallies again, then so will this up to a stabalising level then the day traders will look elsewhere to make a fast buck. No worries here long term.
Short term down, medium term stabalise, long term up and up depending on gold price!
Watching closely...not quite sure which way it is heading short to medium term to be honest
More in the category of recovery rather than growth, but all amounts to same thing, ££££££ 😀
I hope so. At present best two growth shares in ftse 100 looking to next 3 months.
DJones, are your predictions for wonderful price rises going to be as accurate as all those made over on the VOD board?
No debts. Dollar will fall. Divi rising.Randgold will rise no question .Maybe 6500 this year.
