As a long term petrol head I was reading an article published by 'Autocar' on t'internet this morning, all about their top 100 British Cars. The write up on one car (forget which) mentioned Ricardo, a company I looked at a few years back but decided I'd missed the boat on. Surprised to see the current SP and its lack of late 2020 recovery considering its expertise and involvement in Green issues. Am I missing some downside here?
Well overall RCDO is a very solid company , involved in very promising industries except the high performance automotive which is dragging the rest of the group down and should be sold !! All the recent results have been fairly to really good considering the very challenging times we are going through, and yet the sp is at very low levels and doesnt seem to want to recover.
RCDO seems to be very much involved in the highly promising hydrogen market and is currently building what is supposed to be the biggest in the UK R and D center for the hydrogen tech. However considering what huge gains other companies in the hydrogen market have made (their sp i mean ), rcsdo's has not even blinked !! Very disappointing i totally agree .
Down we go again... I have averaged down on this so many times it is now the largest holding in my portfolio, and yet I am still sitting on an uncomfortable 20% loss. This share seems to have been untouched by the switch from tech to small caps witnessed elsewhere in the market and seems to be heading nowhere but down. Does anyone have any good news from Ricardo?
Thanks for the background Theosus, appreciate it.
It was just frustrating, did register with primarybid so will now get notifications from them, too late for RCDO, but may throw up something.
First time I have come across them!
I use Barclays Stockbrokers and they have a special Corporate Actions tab and flag up things like this... at least they're supposed to! Not a mention of this placing, which is pretty shoddy in my opinion.
Whats not to like is the drop in value of my holding, and the dilution. That is without me being able to participate in the retail offer.
OK I could have bought at a similar price. OK the price will likely and hopefully recover, but does it really recover the value, it's arguable, the capital and the divi will be divided up into more lots.
Good side is the take up, the ability to invest extra capital etc. etc. but it would be nice to have had a better chance at buying in consideration of current holdings and consequential losses.
I have held RCDO shares for 10-12 years and seen some up and down, it's a bit annoying when the down is managed by the company (I know this is a kinda Freudian as obviously the company does in effect manage the up and down by how it runs it biz)
Somewhat changed my view of this business: SP was bound to drop to offer price and the hassle of not being able to buy through Sippdeal becomes of academic debate only. Strange one.
So retail offer was on primarybid.com, it looks like its already been taken up fully as offer closed today.
Seems a pretty crappy way to run things if you are a retail investor who cannot sit in front of a computer with portfolio open all day.
Will see how things are tomorrow and maybe top up some.
I read the link and it is all about digital twinning. Sounds interesting and promising.
However I thought these kind of computer/digital simulations were already possible for most things.
There must be more to this than I realise, if so good on Ricardo.
Though maybe not much point in explanation as we can buy at practically placement price anyway bar a couple of p.
This placement isn't like a rights issue? Yet there is some blurb on retail investors getting a chance to participate.
I have had a day full of doing tax self assessments for my wife and me and just cannot absorb this at the moment.
Anyone out there who could give me a quick understandable write up on how this will work. Thanks

Sp holding so far but the sell off has only started !!!
Preliminary full year results are due tomorrow. https://ricardo.com/investors/financial-calendar
some bubbling up going on here, hopefully and at last.
Results due soon?

Keep thinking I should be investing in this: a well-run business with advantages over competitors and an apparently secure and positive medium term future.
Surely it’s time to get involved now.
Today, Western Power Distribution (WPD) in partnership with Ricardo Energy and Environment, confirmed the site for its innovative DC Share project, trialling a new method which will help deliver an estimated 217,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers in urban spaces across its licence area by 2023. The technology will help to get over 3 million EVs moving across the Midlands, South Wales and South West by 2023.

Consider it a great chance to add if you can at these levels. At under £4 it is a real bargain !!!
... and the price continues lower again today, still no director purchases and nobody seems interested in this unloved share. I feel I am either missing something that everyone else knows about or I am a genius and this will come good later in the year. I just wish the SP would wake up a bit!
The new 2020.2 release of powertrain design and optimization software from Ricardo brings a wealth of new features and capabilities – including for electric vehicle battery design – together with improved accuracy and functionality.

think this down with markets down generally
for the people here who hold ncyt
it starting to move up though difficult to buy there getting quoted nt to buy
hoping rcdo selling nearly finished and that buyers might see this dip as an opportunity to buy more when they feel time is right for their investing decisions
Another 10% up today , could something be brewing behind the scenes ? I always thought at under $5 , this co could be a very tempting TO target. Volume is very low though !!! I expect the sp to take a breather soon, there must be some profit taking very soon unless big news are on the way !!!
