Due to an environmental contingency in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, some measures were decreed that will affect operations in the energy sector.
The Megalopolis Environmental Commission (CAMe) informs that Phase I of the atmospheric environmental contingency due to ozone is maintained in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico , in order to reduce the population's exposure to polluted air and the risk of affectation to your health, as well as to reduce the emission of pollutants.
Therefore, the "Miguel Hidalgo" Refinery in Tula, Hidalgo, will not operate at more than 75% of the total process capacity, reducing the combustion capacity in direct fire heaters and boilers in process and power plants.
In addition, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) must apply a 30% reduction in fuel oil consumption at the "Francisco Pérez Ríos" Thermoelectric Power Plant in Tula, Hidalgo.
They know the cure
"They know the cure"
It's to keep the refinery going full time, for export only and have nuclear for their own power needs.
How does that cure the air pollution?
By not burning fossil fuels for electricity.
How long does it take to find a suitable site and to build a nuclear powerplant?
How long does it take to build a new Nuclear Power plant (including the standard 10 years of delays), and how much does it cost in the end?
Time and Money that Mexico won't spend.

A few MMU's and some bioMSAR looks far cheaper to me.

I don't think it's worth spending any time comparing MSAR and nuclear.
haggismchaggis1 - Wrong country, not much pint sticking a link up to Hinkley point when comparing to Mexico. To be honest Hinkley should be built anyway. Its not the best idea to build a nuclear reactor on sand, especially when the rest of it is on granite..
I do hate predictive text. I will write that again.
