...yet again! When the deal was announced the indicative value of the deal was 426.5p per Pace share. Sold my Arris shares as I've been screwed by the Yanks and the £:$ exchange rate too often in the past, and with the fall in the Arris sp and the general decline in the markets I've ended up with only 386.5p for my Pace shares - down 40p. Best of luck to all those who keep their Arris shares, but I'm out. ATB.
Looking at ARRIS 5 year SP chart, the 4 Jan 16 marked the start of the decline in value from 30.40 to todays 26.16 {$ of course]. Virtually throughout 2013 the SP was below 20$, but since then it has been hovering around, occasionally rising above, but usually off 30$. ARRIS base of operations is in Georgia, one of the United States of America, and 'sits on top of' the Florida peninsula'. It was [apparently] named after one of Englands line of Georgian Honoverian Monarchs, the then current George the Second, who assumed the title in 1714 until his death in 1760. Georgia, founded in 1732 was the last of the original 13 States, and the fourth to sign the US Constitution in1788, but in 1862 opted out of the Union to became one of the seven original Confederate States . . . . losing the Civil War! Courtesy Wikipedia where there is a wealth of knowledge about the State, including that its orginal Charter as a Colony of the United Kingdom, banned slavery! Has it any bearing on the Pace/ ARRIS 'merger'? No, but those of us with an affinity for Yorkshire [home of Pace], like to know who 'we're getting into bed with'! You never know 'Home Rule for Yorkshire' may get some unexpected support, especially after hosting the opening stages of the Tour de France {:-)
Exchange rate should read $ = 69p sorry [:-(
Me too Bonz1957, my holding was split, but my dealing account has been credited PIC shares x 132.5, but not the share allocation - it still shows full 'PIC' info. NB: ARRIS, Nasdaq{ARRS}. . . . . SP Fri close was $27.32. [£18.81, @ today's e/rate $69]. Of no particular interest, historically 'this' Friday 7 Jan 2000, Pace SP dropped dramatically to 498,20, from the previous days 530. Then Monday began the terrific surge to a weekend 731.20, and by the next w/end it was 898, and Monday after, it closed at 933.50 ! Yes the price surge was not restricted to PIC, though fewer fell, for example Halifax fell 8p, Powergen fell 15p. NB Always take a profit, but choose well! With China's problems we may have to wait for an ARRIS recovery. GLA
Trman, for every Pace share you held you will receive 132.5p plus 0.1455 of an Arris International plc share. As I held my Pace shares in certificated form I received my cheque and Nominee Service Statement of Ownership for my Arris shares today. ATB.
Er, so what happens to our Pace Micro shares now, anybody know?
Hi Dumbdog Thanks for the Seasons greetings. No doubt our paths will meet elsewhere on LSE in '016. Nothing fresh news wise[that I've found] regarding us the shareholders, no doubt our 'destructions' will be mailed to us in due course. Presumably Pace will keep the direction of research, employing a UK workforce 'Oop North' - it's just a name change for them I suppose rather than new masters, or am I naive? Laguerre
Hi Laguerre, Thank you for your updates. It has been a rollercoaster ride on board Pace Micro and then Pace. The ride has been very hairy at times but as with all good rides, one is left with a warm glow. I am banking on Arris returning to $37 in the short term and maybe a bit more. But I will be offloading a percentage as the risk of mismanagement is increased. It just leaves me to wish you the season's greetings and a prosperous New Year. Dumbdog
It appears that the merge/ T/O by Arris is going ahead 'taking for granted Brazils final clearance' - Pace fed up of with the S American delays?? So will it be '4.41' or todays UT value . . . . .
Has 'all' the information regarding final clearance from Brazil, cessation of trading in Pace shares and cancellation of Pace listing. . . . briefly and respectively 22 December, 1700 23 December, 0800 5 January 2016. Time waits for no man . . . . This may be the 'Last Post' . . . . good posting to you guys, good luck in the future, stay healthy, wealthy and wise! Merry Christmas and asuccessful New Year to al posters
For those unable to find it here . . . Brazils approval is due to go final on the 19 December, still time to trade today. Hi Dumbdog - I picked up mixed messages from yuo . . 'diversify or fossilize'. . . and . . . .'Pace will continue to prosper . . . 'ad infinitum' seemingly. Suggesting from 'ur' POV, its flog BP at a loss to invest in PIC . . . . .and ARRIS . . . . after? Cos their shares aren't the 'same price' as PIC! If anyone picked up on the ref to the rapid decline of my telecom interest and 'recovery' it is +20p up, and looks set for more.
Hi Dumbdog Feet firmly Earth bound yet? Good, . . . if you're sitting comfortably, then I'll begin {:-). . . . Positive thoughts must be that travel to our orbiting rock, our postage-stamp-like, anonymous moon, [all sister planet satellites are named?], is more routine than waiting for a town bus, at least they keep to a timetable! Weirdly I'm 'into' satellites - telecom ones. No, I'm 'not' particularly advocating a specific one. A clue? I do ponder BT's strength! Wrong! A recent 'Enterprise' venture by them, rather than strengthening has 'Shipped' the partners declining sp almost into freefall!! With an eye for recovery. looking down from a space bound position in the I.S.S., how much "longer will we have to live before we prosper", and should our biblical 'talents' linger, or be PIC'ed up and spread? In the mean time I hope to get on my pushbike. Its preparation for . . . . . these WW commemorations, I thought I'd invent one . .' A 'Western Approach', Lands End, to Hellfire Corner, patrolling the English Channel', Cornwall to Kent, Might even find someone equally err . . . . to try as well! Deadline 2018, perhaps a finale day[or two] ride! Now an acronym, Lands End to John O' Groats is 'LEJOG'; Western Approach gives 'WEAP', 'WAP' = War And Peace; Cornwall to Kent - COKE. Any opinions besides 'delete'! Apologies for the latter off-topicality.
I think you have made a mistake as looking into my crystal ball to September 2016 the future looks good even since you got out Pace is going up.
Hi Laguerre, I write this as the first Brit blasts off from Kazakhstan on his way to the International Space Station. He will look down on a planet that is in danger of overheating and entering uncharted territory. In this brave new world and in that context it is straightforward where investors should place their money for the long term IMHO. My BP stocks have even bombed in the short term. They must diversify immediately of they will fossilise themselves. Meanwhile Pace will continue to prosper in the short, medium and long term. Live long and prosper fellow earthlings :)
I'm out.. Easiest 21% I've ever made. Think it'll drift down until Brazil announcement but still don't see it getting back to its recent levels. All IMO of course. I've been wrong before, 1989 I think it was. Lol.!
Well it didn't make the price I predicted back in October but it's well on it's way now, I'm expecting a boost next week or by the following Monday. I had intended to sell but I really do belive that P&A will be good together and predict a 25% plus rise by July August 2016 so going to stick with it.
It really pays to read PIC Alliance news . . . the 'only new news' item today was The US D of J approval, Everything else, as I related here very early this morning had been available on this very board in 'PIC Alliance News' since 24 November! Find it, it pays!
Pace (PIC) investors sent the set-top box maker's shares up 7 per cent after US competition regulators approved US peer Arris's proposed takeover of the group. The deal has been approved in five countries, leaving Brazil as the final holdout. Brazil and out. Happeeeee days
It was for those reasons that I jumped on board. Because of the lack of transparency the price never budged and consequently it meant very little downside. GLA
Hi Dumbdog I'm not really 'over the Moon', is it prophetic? 'Mankind' hasn't progressed much further [in space] since Armstrongs words! Are Pace/Arris similar? But good to see you're still growling . . . ! Quoting PIC Alliance News of '21 October' . . . yes that long ago . . . : 'Arris Gp took another step towards merging with Pace PLC . . . its shareholders approved the merger agreement'. and 'English law requires Pace hold 2 special meetings to approve the schemes arrangement'. and 'Arris has previously said it is eyeing first quarter 2016 to complete the deal for Pace . . . ' that day PIC closed 383.80 [up 0,6%] Same source on 24 November . . . Arris Gp said . . . . 'its acquisition of Pace had received anti-trust clearance in Colombia . . . . . following similar clearance in Germany, S Africa and Portugal'. and 'Completion . . . . . . remains subject to the expiration or termination of the waiting period under the US Hart-Scott-Rodino Anti Trust Improvements Act of 1976, and the satisfaction of similar merger control requirements in Brazil together with satisfaction of other customary closing conditions . . . . . '. 24 November PIC morning price down 1% 387.00 01 December closing price 404.40 What is really missing, is ANY clarifying comments from Pace management concerning the merger . . . . . could it be they don't know either! There is still reference to the too oft reported t/o figures to be repeated yet again! Anybody got a pin? Cheers PS Will it be . . . . . Happy New Year to all readers , , , , , I wonder.
Analysts seem to be coming around to the realisation that Pace is going to fly high, albeit maybe under a different flag. Technology is progressing unequally. Widespread 1 Terabyte/sec data rates, which is what Pace is achieving now in development, is stuff of the 25th Century. Computer technology is in the 22nd Century. My perspective is that of a 20th Century electronics engineer. Holographic rendering is developing and has reared its head several times recently on the BBC political shows, demonstrating voting intentions. And other technologies are catching up to use the fantastic opportunities offered by Pace's enabling communications technologies.
I'll keep taking this, thank you very much.
Will someone wake me up when the deal is done please. Even the market makers have nodded off on this one. It's like waiting for Christmas.
I'm still expecting the price to rise to around £4.52 by the 18th of November as the shorts still have plenty to buy, if everyone holds the price could even rocket higher then my prediction but my guess most private investors will want to sell by mid December. I still think Pace would have a good future if the merger doesn't go ahead as I know they have a lot in the design and development stage for future convergence.
More regulator hurdles with Arris (will probably go through end of the year early next year ... its a maybe (high risk) as if Arris does not happen then the effect on Pace may not be great ... took my (modest) profit
