Good luck Seenright84, whatever decision you make.
Thanks Fud. That had crossed my mind.
Otherwise at the bell I’d be checking in most mornings with a sense of regret/anticipation.
Thanks for the comments, advice gents, much appreciated.
Fear of missing is high.
Seenright84, Best of lucky juggling those home front plates. If you could I would leave a couple thousand shares in, as you will be forever chasing. Bread and water for a while never hurt anybody. But regret and buying at the wrong time did. All your choice.
Demon_G, that sounds almost identical to my current situation. Wise words indeed.
“Nobody ever lost money taken profits” as a good friend told me recently.
I think for my own sanity, I’ll be bowing out the w/c the 22nd. Let’s hope there are a few more points to be had between now and then.
Thanks all
I think you’re doing the right thing Seenright. I remember back in 08 I had the same dilemma, I had a few thousand pounds and needed to make money to get a decent deposit on a house. I wasn’t getting any younger. I saw an opportunity at the financial crash and I got into shares and did well, I got to the point where a few years later I was thinking about buying a house outright but in the end I got greedy and lost a good amount, however, i had made enough to do what I had planned to do, so it was at that point I decided to walk away with my profits, I had an objective at the start and I reached it - job done. Sometimes, you just don’t know what the future holds, there is no guarantees, they’ll be other opportunities. It’s important to put an anchor down and build a foundation, especially if you have kids. You can always start again in the future. Whatever you choose, good luck. There is no right or wrong answer, do what you feel is right for you.
NorthSeaTiger, it has been quite quiet for a week or so, fingers crossed you’re right.
If you’re correct, might just have to rename the property Open House or Orphan House, perhaps the latter might raise a few questions with the new neighbours though!
I remember buying into UKOG at 0.42p at the beginning and cashing out for my mortgage at 2p. Less than a year later they went to 8p and briefly to 11p. When you need the money theres not much you can do. GL. Hopefully CF will come good. I reckon there will be some news in the next 7 days.
GeoffieBoy, thanks for the note and sound advice. As always in life, nice to know someone else has already walked your path.
Yep, bit of a dilemma... I would love to extend the mortgage, however it’s already at 38yrs. Throw in a 4 week old daughter and I think it’s just time to cash in, for now!
I’ve been drip feeding in since March 2021, most bought between 12.5-25p, so cannot complain at all.
That said, the divi would be lovely to perhaps bring the loft conversation a touch closer!
This board and share has certainly kept me entertained over the last 1yr.
Good Luck everyone and hopefully the next year is even more fruitful for those just joining!
That is a tough one. Been where you are (about 25 years ago). Totally understand your rationale. As a 64 year old now I would love to say keep your money in here and extend your mortgage as much as you can, but having been were you are I can’t! Family and minimising risk as someone a lot younger than me comes first, always. But 20 year or so from now you will I’m sure be filling your boots!!
Don't tend to comment much on here, largest in portfolio by a distance...but still sleep easy.
Sentiment seems to be drifting back towards the January mindset on here...a relatively disgruntled 2-3 weeks, then, Cathal appeared from the shadows, news kicked in, share price found a new level 20% higher than it was...rinse and repeat...
Invesco I would expect to be out well ahead of mid-May, given news comes through frequently, CF/ii's/Chinese potential purchases...etc...
I won't reel off all the expected news flow in the next couple of months, Trader, Peter, extrader etc... have done so far more eloquently... but each month any vague negatives drop away for me (dependency on CF reducing, bed capacity increasing, local to global outlook...), 10% of my portfolio last March, >70% now...
Right place, right time IMHO...
Sadly, I'm going to have part ways with my 60k shares at the end of this month regardless, due to a house purchase finally going through.
I've never been so disappointed in a completion date in all my life LOL
The temptation to borrow more money and leave these shares in CF hands is enormous!
I just know the week after I sell, the divi's will land!
CF, if you're reading this - help a brother out - I've been waiting a long, long time! ;)
I'm no expert but I would have thought that we should see an increase in volume and sp in anticipation of first div - there is only a finite number of shares to go around, so its no skin off any existing investors, and if held tightly before any news then people will have to pay more!
At most we are three to four weeks away from some serious news hitting. He may drop in a contract in the meantime to maintain price. He's been sorting out terms with a bunch of companies and now we got ethics approval it is crossing the t's time.
WE are just waiting for the starting gun.
Once we get it it will all be at once. Like buses they come in a pack.
I think he's definitely holding back news.Who knows if he'll get approval to buy in again or when he requested it.Personally I think if there is a dividend in the next month its way too close.
I wish there was a way he could just buy some invesco shares, in fact I wish there was a way we could all buy them.
Well let's hope the nominated advisor rules quickly as I suspect nothing much is going to happen until a decision is reached...
Did I read somewhere on the board that Cathal Friel wants to buy more shares and has asked permission to do so? And if that's the case, does anyone know when permission might be granted/denied and by whom?
