Oil is up 15% in a week. They can F off with 48.5p
no chance that will succeed. Good - would rather hold and watch the share rise well beyond 48p
Total balls ... if they see value at 48.5p, and they must see serious value, otherwise they wouldn’t be making an offer, then why sell
are they having a laugh?
if an offer made will be 48.5p lol
Could be another good day.
Gave me the same impression mate
Happy to hold
GL.
Ooh also, is it only net short positions you have to declare, not just gross short position?! I would never have thought of that.
Thanks for the info all, very interesting stuff. So can we conclude that the recent drop was JPM. Maybe they were keeping their short thinking the deal might fall away and order would be restored. Now though it's too late in the day so they tried to walk down the price so they can close out the shorts in time for the 15th in case something happens. It goes without saying but this is all complete speculation do course (at least from me).
IANAA,
Given the position we are in atm I would be amazed if anyone had any position other than tiny in shorting Ophir (with exception, see below).
With the 8.3 notification we have seen the odd institution that still hold shorts are slowly reducing ,ie Blackrock.
We now have +84% declared institutional holders, that is high and I'm still expecting that to close in on 90%.
Don't forget, Ophir are not an aim stock and as such are viewed differently by the shorters. Plenty of mileage on other stocks to short a lot easier for greater return than Ophir.
Check out daily CURRENT short list, although they don't report on less than 0.5%, Ophir are not listed.
Also look at the HISTORIC disclosures on the next excel sheet of the same document. You can see whos held and how they have been reducing. Note JPM, I would say they are the only ones that have any short position of note. I would estimate around 1 to 2m atm. They have not declared their position 8.3 atm either and I think that RNS 2.9 by our board yesterday was directed at them. Bit embarrassing if they disclosed holding a large short and the price ran away .... think a few other funds would have a laugh at them !!! So, I think JPM are possibly holding the SP back until they have closed all their shorts. So in that case expect the see the SP rise a little up until their 8.3 deadline of next Tuesday. We all know how squeaky clean JPM are .... !!!
Hope that helps.

So, thinking about it, no-one has a NET short position that is over 0.5% of the Comany (one half of one per cent). All the shorts must be to hedge long positions. As a poster said yesterday, watch for shorts closing.
Very strangely, the FCA daily notifications of short positions do not include any reported short positions in Ophir
NewKOTB, do you have any idea what the total % short is? I was wondering if the II %age could be >100% because every share shorted is kindof owned twice. In a little surprised anyway that we're up at 84%, seems high to me but maybe that's normal.
No problem glad to help, they gave me the impression that the deal will happen, just a gut feeling nothing more.
Hi duster
Rang that no you give me today
Very helpful, as you say morgan stanley guy sitting in on call ,and made me aware,
Morgan stanley guy also talked with me to clarify some points
Very happy with what was said
Date he did mention was 28th , but said news could come before .
Cheers Duster.
Tony Rouse our CFO, may want to drag the deal out until 14/03/2019 so he can pickup 559,958 shares at nil exercise price. (lol)
Don't think that will be to difficult with the shareholder vote to organise, the completion date will be several months ahead at least.
This will give Tony close to 900k shares, so every penny increase in the offer makes a big difference to Tony
gla
Medco up as well
An AT "1" code at 16:27. I confidently predict that there WILL be an RNS tomorrow. Lol.

Also, Blackrock closing shorts and opening longs.
Nice move today so far
Just waiting for the offer ammu.
Feels like the tide is turning though. Fingers crossed, yesterday was the bottom. Seen this before, a sharp spike up on news of a possible take over, then a drift down, before it starts to pick up again as deadlines approach. Next Tuesday will be interesting.
Very quiet today lol
Free float is getting tighter by the day .... until POP !!!
Strengthening.
Looks like a buyer in the background
