Apologies OWLS I can see you have posted to the LSE boards re your other profitable trades.
Best of luck.
Spotting early opportunities is where the great returns lie. You haven't posted regarding owning any of your mentioned, supposedly profitable, trades to any LSE board. Of course though you will say your returns are good.
Best of luck. Keep tuned into Ocado, many momentum changes to come...
If I had the skills to spot an opportunity early then I would. However my momentum strategy has worked very well for me for many years so I'll stick with it.
I'm a fair bit down with Experian and slightly down with Croda and MKS but gains on other shares such as Investec, Provident Financial and Tullow more than offset these losses.
I never have more than 5% in any share so losses in any individual share desn't cause me too many issues.
I am looking forward to OCDO turning because it has proved to be a great momentum investment in the past.
OWLS, Momentum often changes when shares are at year highs. The share gets overbought by investors looking for the quick buck, hoping the share will rise evermore. Being late at the party has big risks. Better to spot the opportunity early than be left with an overbought stock. Your current lossmaking trades of Croda, Experian and MKS show this to varying degrees.
Valueplay, I agree that on occasions momentum can change. It is wise to sell when the share price falls belowthe 200 day MA, this helps to reduce the impact.
Nice rebound occuring. .
Ocados knockdown share price being snapped up by the market. New investors starting to position for the 26th Jan...
Yes a bit brutal at the moment, but OCDO seems hit by the sector more than anything else.
https://www.reuters.com/markets/stocks/live-markets-tech-trouble-2022-01-18/
Its very difficult to break downward momentum, especially when the reason for the fall is sector related and the financial imperative for many is to push down the SP even more.
Also, you have to consider in OCDO's case that the stock was also over bought as a result of the Covid pandemic when it was one of the few big winners.
The old cliché to be patient applies - it will turn eventually but it may take months rather than days - meanwhile enjoy the presentation on 26th Jan.
Shares that reach a 52 week high can quickly become overbought as investors jump on board for a quick buck. OWLS, as your recent purchase in MKS shows, high flying shares momentum can quickly turn..
Shares that reach a new 52 week high tend to continue rising, shares that reach a new 52 week low tend to continue falling.
I have no idea whether OCDO will be successful or not, I just follow the market and it works for me.
Ocados knockdown share price being snapped up by the market. New investors starting to position for the 26th Jan...
You mean it won't fall as much as it normally would?
It might be a quite day today - US markets are closed for Martin Luther Day Holiday.
A Friend told me that there could be plans for an Ipswich Spoke supplied by Purfleet CFC. I can't find anything concrete on the Web to back this up. I think it will be positive, Glasgow, all though gone quiet. Reimagined on the 26th.... I am not going anywhere.
Most were writing this company off when Ocado shares were £1. Ocado thrives on being misunderstood and disrupting itself. 26th January will be the latest evolution of Ocado differentiating itself further and capitalising on its patented innovation knowledge bank.
Sell low, buy high. Hmm.... Not a strategy I'd especially recommend. Unless you have no faith in the longer term company performance...
People have been saying the same thing since it was £20+. I would rather be a seller at the moment until momentun changes.
I don't understand why people would be selling at these levels instead of buying... Renewables are reducing the price of energy every day tending to zero, baby boomers are starting to leave the workforce increasing the price of labour. How could automation technology companies not be huge winners in the future????
To me Ocado just needs to ride the wave of the global online grocery, never mind lead it. Just sit on your thumbs and the price will go up in time... or maybe that's just the opinion of someone who got greedy and forgot to click the sell button at the top, who knows?
