Allah4uk , the other week Novacyt advertised for a supervisor to work in the QMUL labs till the year end . In the supervisors job description it stated this person will be responsible for helping the labs to test and prove new products and workflow solutions from Novacyt. This I took to mean at the very least the simplified version of the covid19 test to be used on the q16 and q32 devices. The outcome of what's going on in these labs could lead to many sales opportunities and not just in the NHS.
While I'm posting did anybody take a look at the company that makes the q16 and q32 devices for Novacyt based in Dublin .
http://itislifescience.com/ I wonder what they are worth.
GOOD INTUITION EXMEX, A LOT MIIGHT HINGE ON THE QMUL TRIAL'S REPORT.
IT MIGHT UNLOCK THE SECOND PHASE OF THE CONTRACT AND ALSO OPEN MORE CARE HOMES DOORS. NOT TO MENTION THE OPPORTUNITIES ABROAD, WITH NOVACYT SALES TEAM PITCHING THE "SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN" ADVANTAGE OF CONDUCTING REGULAR, HIGHLY ACCURATE PCR TESTS IN AT-RISK SETTINGS.
It looks like the second phase of the contract could well be linked to the work that is taking place in the labs at QMUL on simplifying the covid19 test procedure. A positive outcome there would make it possible to roll out the NPT in a wider range of NHS settings, some without previous testing experience.
What are the odds on getting a quarterly sales update early later this week.
NO FIGURES ON STOCKS WERE GIVEN (OBV.) BUT THE LAST RNS, IIRC, DID STRESS THAT INCREASED PRODUCTION WAS UNDERWAY. SO CERTAINLY NCYT ANTICIPATES THAT THEIR INSTRUMENTS SALES WILL TAKE OFF - AND NOT ONLY FOR THE GIANT NHS ORDERS, I SURMISE.
WHAT I ANTICIPATE THE MOST, AND HASN'T BEEN REITERATED TODAY, IS THE REDUCTION IN TESTING TIME : SUPPOSEDLY "SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN 60 MINUTES".
IT MUST BE A FURTHER REFINEMENT OF EXSIG DIRECT, SINCE THE LATTER DID PERMIT A TIME REDUCTION FROM 90 MINS TO 60 MINS, BUT NO MORE.
Thanks for posting that @A4UK
The last para from the July 22nd NPT RNS is below;
“Also part of the NPT system is the Company's recently developed direct-to-PCR extraction kit (exsig(TM) Direct), which extracts RNA from patient samples and further reduces the number of workflow steps. As a result, the NPT system is ideally suited to applications in mobile settings, such as care homes, key hospital departments and other community locations. The Company expects to launch its NPT system by the end of July 2020.”
- key hospital departments was achieved today
- care homes will surely follow suit in the next couple of weeks given the growing media pressure & fact the trial will almost certainly show clear benefits (why would it not...)
- other community locations could presumably include Schools, Unis, Airports etc.
The Q16’s and 32’s could be in huge demand. I wonder how many we can produce / have in stock?!
Allah4UK, your caps lock is on ! ;-)
Good article thanks
Allah4uk, agreed and when you consider they could run 30 tests at the same time it’s 2 minutes per test, which is very rapid. And with winterplex test, they will know if they have flu or covid.
GOOD ARTICLE FROM THE TORYGRAPH : HTTPS://WWW.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK/NEWS/2020/09/28/TESTING-CARE-HOME-STAFF-RESIDENTS-REMAINS-UNRESOLVED-FIASCO/
MOST NOTABLY THE FOLLOWING QUOTES :
"PROFESSOR MARTIN GREEN, THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF CARE ENGLAND, SAID THE PROBLEM WITH TESTING IN CARE HOMES "IS GETTING WORSE, NOT BETTER" BECAUSE "TEST RESULTS ARE NOT COMING BACK QUICKLY ENOUGH""
" IF YOU WANT TO KEEP CARE HOMES FREE OF CORONAVIRUS THEN THEY NEED THEIR TEST RESULTS BACK IN MINUTES, NOT DAYS."
MINUTES YOU SAID ? BODES WELL FOR US SINCE WE CAN PROVIDE EXACTLY THAT !
TESTING WITH THE Q32 AND OPTIMISED TEST TAKES LESS THAN 60 MINUTES.
HOPEFULLY THE NPT TEST RESULTS WILL BE RELEASED IN A FEW WEEKS.
