A 10% lift from here will mean we are over the £3 hurdle, and every chance this will happen by the moment we hear the trading update, what a turnaround? JJ
Merry Christmas to all, and we get another Christmas celebration in 17 days time. Praise to the Lord and M&S.
To all the LTH's here... I hope you are enjoying the festivities. It's been a great year here. Thanks for all your contributions on this board... Kept me sane over the years! Looking forward to what 2024 brings for Marks.
Merry Christmas Carrington 😊 Thank you for your wishes, I hope you have a peaceful time with family and friends, same goes for JJ, Chilting and all regulars on here.
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year to all
Gla
Got to be a prime target now.
SM, boss of M&S, says M&S as a group has had the best week in their history!!
The amount of xmas customer orders I have seen today @ my depot was massive. I have never seen before that many personal customer order before. I will be processed tonight for morning delivery. Happy Xmas everyone.
Between 11-12 today they had their busiest hour on the food department ever taking 8.6 million. Be defiantly good news on the 12th.
Thank you my Lord. All the best one and all, and enjoy whatever you choose, there is always a choice. JJ
JJ, Neil, Chilting and all the other long term holders on here - a great year for the mighty Marks and Spencers - wishing you all a Merry Christmas - looking forward to a properous New Year with MKS as we head north of 300p -

M & S as Stuart Machin CEO says it’s just the start of its recovery, so much more to do!! I’ve never been so confident in my investment, gla. Good read in retail gazette about M & S

Wife's food store, its nice to see that you feel invested in the particular store.
Have a great one. JJ
My wife’s food store is doing record numbers. It really is unprecedented. At trading update in January ‘24 sp will hit 320p or thereabouts imo.
Good call JJ, £2.70 at last.
This could be the best possible message for M&S and expect more of a rush for late Christmas buying. JJ
🤣🤣🤣
The naughty step is calling. JJ
Red day in bound, I've just topped up again, sorry.
"M&S's grocery sales in the 12 weeks to Dec. 2 increased 12.8%, only topped by Aldi and Lidl, according to data from market researcher NIQ. Now it is targeting a bigger slice of Britain’s 229-billion pound ($291 billion) grocery market." - This dropped on Reuters this morning - I said a few days ago that my ex wife's store is seeing unprecedented food sales and this is now playing out in front of your eyes - 3 quid is on its way boys and girls - follow the money
gla dyor etc
I suspect you are correct - at least as far as Tesco's and Sainsbury's. Truth be told Aldi and Lydl are no longer materially cheaper than these two and the quality of some ranges notably worse.
The likes of M&S and Waitrose attract a far less cost driven consumer and to that extent they will follow the market which is robust for those already comfortably well off. Long term these two are a hard sell as demographics and the UK's ever declining living standards mean fewer peeos will fall into that category.
Possibly medium term with Starmer at the wheel and a hunfry underclass to satisfy.
Even better with the link....

That's the word from my local, sales up 13% so far this year not including December and many Christmas items selling out already. All looking good, January might not be the usual miserable month!
Gla and Merry Christmas
If Simon Roberts the chief executive of Sainsbury’s is correct customers are drifting back to main stream supermarkets from the discounters to exploit their superior range. It seems that they are also buying budget items and doing just one shop rather than visiting both a main stream supermarket and a discounter, therefore cutting out the discounter altogether.
This must bode well for M&S and Ocado Retail with their superior range.
Maybe we are seeing the restoration of the status quo.
