TBF LondonMarket, to say 128,000 deaths were actually caused by covid is incorrect but i am with you regarding passports etc. Anything to open up the country again.. people are willing to take whatever measures deemed necessary, and buying kits in the shed load is one of them ;)
I voted for Brexit to any more insults you wish to impart at me?
Lots of polling has shown the majority of Britons support Covid Passports.
The UK has an uptake of 95% for the first dose of the vaccine in the over 50s.
The UK alone has 128,000 deaths caused by COVID-19 (A first-world nation).
I assume you're an avid talkRadio listener, slight lunatic and extremely uninformed. Take your nonsense somewhere else now, please.
I agree copro but a lot of people are not buying into this testing, vaccination and qr code passports.
Even when I take a step back and look at it, I have to say it seems a little crazy for respiratory virus that perhaps is not as bad as it has been made out to be.
A chap in my neighbourhood had a vaccine and in the following days he ended up in hospital in intensive care. The truth is these vaccines are still experimental and the uptake on them is not happening.
It is worth pointing out Spanish flu was a seriously damaging mutation of the flu virus but it hasn't gone away. Flu is with us today but its effects are reduced with better sanitation and especiallyin the UK, vaccination of the elederly and vulnerable. Covind will follow the same path. It will not go away but vaccination will minimise the impact. Testing will be an added means of controling it.
The world population is 4x higher tha with Spanish flu. Maybe it would burn itself out in 2 years but the death rate would probably be 4x Spanish flu. We can do our best to prevent that worst outcome with vaccination and testing.
But answering PAUL with serious reasoning is pointless if another spurious irelevant comment follows, designed to throw doubt on sensible discussion.

Asking sincerely...
Are you are complete idiot, or just pretending?

May as well stay home as the body carries many viral diseases.
So what do we say if you have HIV no entry?
It was also 100 years ago. The way we respond to pandemics has dramatically changed (especially now).
The PCR testing that MHC offers is vital as it tracks variants. The COVID pandemic showed how countries that had control of their borders (Australia, NZ etc.) did significantly better than those that couldn't. We obviously cannot close off the country as it isn't practical, but we can enforce testing for at least a year (as long as COVID is globally prevalent) to ensure we can keep track of the virus entering the country and what variant, in particular, has come in. The scientists know this and more importantly, for investors, the Government know this.
Furthermore, who says that this isn't the new normal. Once the capacity and development are there why don't we start looking at the possibility of not just testing for COVID. We've seen the devastation a pandemic can cause and the world was woefully underprepared. What if one day a product came to market that allowed to test for multiple viral diseases on entry to a country that is noninvasive and inexpensive? I've recently experienced how prevalent TB is in the UK and that is largely down to it being imported from other nations, imagine if we were able to track things like TB as well as we're tracking COVID. It is in literally everybody's interest for this to happen and I can see a world now where it is possible and I highly doubt I am the first person in the world to have these thoughts.
Also on the topic of MHC in particular, bear in mind MHC also has other testing products in the pipeline - in fact at least 2 a month for the rest of the year.
Would it be worthy comparing COVID to Spanish flu, that was only for two years.
Are 100% sure covid will be here in two years time or will it die out once everyone is vaccinated against it?
This suggestion is totally wrong.
I have a close friend who is an Epidemiologist researching pandemics in the NHS. She says Covid is here to stay. It most definitely will not have disappeared in 2 years.
Unless we could vaccinate the world population it will be a constant threat and we cannot even vaccinate 100% of population in the UK. It took over 20 years to get HIV under control but not eliminated and Covid is far more widespread.
A map of the world shows massive areas with very low vaccination against Covid, vaccinating the world population is years, if not decades away. The result will be constant mutations requiring all vaccines to be tweaked constantly to keep up.
It follows it will remain a threat requiring yearly vaccination in the UK and testing when travelling to many parts of the world, for trade if not holidays. People arriving here have the potential to bring new mutations.
