If I want to sell my shares all someone will pay me for them is the current share price. That is their value to me or anyone else right now and reflects the current sentiment of buyers and sellers. That may change in the future, I hope it does but I have learnt to have a brutal attitude to investments, you have to base decisions on the truth not on what you would like things to be.
But hey feel free to take the blue pill if that's your bag.
Sorry but you are still confusing market cap with company value. The company is currently not for sale, if it were there would be a value established between buyer and seller, a buyer could not amass the required number of shares at these prices or without triggering numerous TR1's. The market cap we are seeing is driven entirely by the average investors sentiment that in no way reflects true value of the company. Anyway, like you I'm a long term holder here and my own analysis suggests that it is seriously undervalued by most metrics, just need to wait until the tide of sentiment swings, which it surely will.
A takeover for MCR wouldn't be based on current SP. Normally if more than 30 per cent of shares / voting rights change hands the minimum price would be the highest trade price in the previous 12 months. Thats not considering any incentive to sell, ie normally a premium on the current SP that may take it over that. Its 5.80 or so in the last year
I am not confusing anything just seeing things as simply as they really are. The value of anything is what someone will pay you for it which is the share price. I personally think mf is seriously undervalued but that's an opinion not a fact. Enterprise value is a device for comparing the size of companies with different debt structures. All very interesting but doesn't help a PI.
Bobsto, you are confusing market cap with company value. As pandamonia says. There are rules, regulations and protocols in place should you care to read them.
Current share price is more an accurate reflection of sentiment and not value. You can value companies in 10 different ways. Shareholders can refuse to sell their shares and the price rises. Shareholders can agree to sell above current SP. SP is just the current price shares are trading hands. If you want the whole company then you want all the shares and by default the demand for those shares goes up and the price with it. The SP will usually reflect the price being offered in a bid for the whole company.
But if you want to buy a company you simply have to buy all the shares don't you? Whatever you get charged for them is the company's value.
Really, who knew? I thought the market value was the no of shares in issue multiplied by the share price.
Too cheap right now and prime for an approach, should be trading over £5 a share and will do again
Poor again today even allowing for divi.. . Just hoping someone will put a bid in to stir some attention.
