Am I right in thinking we just bagged A$58m profit on this investment?! That's incredible, looking at the typical performance of the fund!
Looks like it will be a ~$33M profit on the PFAS case on a consolidated basis

Bummer on this one but going to happen from time to time:
https://www.firstpost.com/world/lawsuit-against-google-over-medical-information-dismissed-by-british-court-12620382.html
this was third party funded and roughly one year into the matter, so with any luck not as much damage had it gone all the way to trial...
Why $25M?
Seems like it is within the fund which i did not expect.
Profit is profit.
In some ways happy as than now implies that the money from our own balance sheet items is somewhere else
I too would have hoped for more.
even on this result, its still at least a $25M profit to the group, take out 3rd party fund and at least $12M remaining.
serious question, why is there not a news release on the matter? Is this not material?
They will need to finalise the close of the 2nd fund soon. Too much cash coming in
Thx.
Good news. I personally wanted a bit more from this but a win is a win :).
Is your take from thw article. That the judge sees a valid pfas claim and they are arguing about the amount.
The studiea are performed by the defendant, and they are claiming for lost property values.
Surely any form of polution even minor will have an impact on their values.
Glad to converse with someone on a board who posts rational facts :).
I was aware of the second item, on my watch list.
It does feel like there is value in tracking some of the larger cases even if there is a cost. There is a nicee grey level pf information in the market before lcm put out the black and white rns
no I'm not a subscriber, but i was able to get a copy of the article from someone who is.
looks like the main PFAS trial date has been pushed back 2 weeks. 15 May we know kick off, unless there is a last minute settlement.

Looks like we are potentially seeding an investment in Panthera Resources

Thanks for the updates..shame the company doesn't do more RNS updates to keep investors engaged.
a couple things:
https://www.lawyerly.com.au/pfas-class-action-judge-frustrated-about-lack-of-settlement/
basically the judge taking issue with the government for dragging their feet and not settling prior to this going to court. Looks like it heads to trial Monday. Might even be live streamed.
not that it was probably a bit matter on our books, but progress on another funded case (this would be 100% balance sheet)

Study on going.
But states peoplr outside of claim area by shine ( probably more remote) are told not to use water.
Another guy who did not sign up saw healthy fish production go from 1.2 million to 0. He thinks 100m aud needed for compensation

Not sure.
But this is a stock, so i would assume it is treated the same as all other stocks
Anyone know if this share falls in HRMC classification as a valid share for IHT planning if held for two years? As they fund litigation is it essentially an investment firm and therefore disqualified?
Thanks this is great.
Ceo has confirmed in last call class actions on %.
And last one settled for 200m aud if i recall.
We have 40,000 claimants. You have to think 10k a head give property prices.
just a friendly reminder on a potential catalyst. PFAS case against the Australian Department of Defense due to go to trial 1st of May 2023. There is precedent for the government to settle PRIOR to court hearing as they did in their previous PFAS class action. They do that because they don't want their dirty laundry in the public domain. This is a big claim where we are remunerated based on a percentage of proceeds (ie one that can really move the needle)
