I think you're right. HUGE sells going on around this level.. With FTSE 100 scares, this is looking like breaking the £1 barrier and following the trent
Got back to 110p then dropped back, due to lack of support , see this dropping back to 100p-102p, in a short timeframe. If trading update is at all negative see this at 90p tops , to much of a gamble for me so cashed in my small holding and run. gla
There is still mugs, but there is also ever more of these playing machines in coral & william hill. Betfair have it right, and it shows by their SharePrice and 2.5bn true valuation
There are plenty of mugs still - they are playing the machines. That is where the money is. You can collect your online winnings in shop from most firms. I suggest you do your research a little better. Ladbrokes are not still a big name in the industry. They are miles behind. Just because you have a few mates who put on football bets in the local shop, that does not equate to what is going on in the rest of the UK. So all-in-all things look good!
Ladbrokes are the only ones I know of myself that you can bet online with, then go and collect the cash in store from your online account. I don't see why Ladbrokes can't have a modest recovery, they are still a TOP name when it comes to all the big events, and always will be. My footballer friends are also always in Ladbrokes most weekends putting silly accumulators and score lines on, they may as well direct debit them with the kind of bets they put on!
Luckily quit Sads at just over 200p having been in for years (didnt want to but was persuaded.......of better opportunities!) Have to say nothing on earth would tempt me back in for all the reasons so eloquently posted here. The shops, dull and mostly empty apart from the lunatics on the bandits are an awful advertisement for the co, at least PP get that right! No, there are better opportunities in the sector, but if your staying put? Good Luck.
I have found myself in a sort of quandary .Ive thrown my toys out of the pram with regard to the internet site as they have done nothing to encourage me back and Customer Services have failed to respond to me apart from an acknowledgement. I am a shareholder so part of me feels Im cutting off my nose by not at least letting them have my turnover !!! (LOL) One of the early posters pointed out that there is a new generation of punters who dont recognise the brand which is probbaly true Once carefully crafted from its aristocratic forebearers ancestors by Greenwich Mean Stein as a multi-faceted entrepreneurial machine.Perhaps we are now in the realms of being another Sportingbet but less cutting edge as a possible takeover target .Something certainly needs to change
The site seems so diffcult to use compare to coral when you just want to place a simple bet .
Plenty mug punters ... I work with them every day and they bet on more stupid things than ever... Number of sending offs etc. As someone who bought in fairly high on this turkey however I do agree that ladbrokes aren't very good at catching the mugs as I know very few people who use them online by choice. Radical rethink needed but I'm in long term now so can only hope GLA
Well I agree entirely with you that Ladbrokes have failed to innovate and fallen behind the field and that the market has become competitive I am sure there are as many mug punters plugging away today as there are 10 years ago.I put my own hand up here It just needs a good platform and management to attract them This is where Ladbrokes are failing Look at the financials markets which must be a massive market that Ladbrokes have steered clear from Its there to be attacked
I think you've missed my points entirely. Punters aren't going away? Maybe not but how many smart punters are there now compared to the mugs of ten years ago? Scrap that five years ago. The election? Again smart money. Wont be your man in the street betting £50 The Rugby World Cup?? Might as well be non league football compared to the football world cup and you find more people with an edge betting on it as they know more than the "traders" at Ladbrokes. The website and marketing is awful, they are big problems. But its also incredibly hard to make a profit of £100m+ any more. Still you're doing better than Stan James.
One thing is for sure punters arent going away and to be quite frank will bet on any platform that attracts them .There is an Election this year where innovative offers will entice the punter to part with their cash There is also the World Cup rugby which although doesnt sit on the same platform as football will be ahuge betting event The problem is not the betting market but Ladbrokes have fallen behind. They dont even offer financial betting which is a huge market .New mangers or hopefully new owners required
Its still amazes me how many people dont understand how hard it is now to win big being a bookmaker. 365 do not do it by chance. Ladbrokes are all over the place and website is awful. No its worse than that, its probably the worst out there. And try using the exchange, who designed that? Horse racing is not a market to be in any more, it is simply too hard to win. Other sports are becoming the same but punters cant win as much over a month or year. Ladbrokes really need to sharpen up on the website primarily, then the main UK sports; horse racing(they are better on the flat) and football. They aren't competitive in these markets, nor are Paddy Power yet they still take and win a lot more than Ladbrokes. Take away the FOBT's and online casino, games etc and they could go bust. No World Cup next year so good luck!!
Well I missed that opportunity with the pick up in the market. So I will have to wait. It might be better for me in the next tax year anyway. There are many who think that this will go down to 80p, is that because of divi concerns or the government slapping extra tax and limits on them. Oh well there will be other chances to buy something cheap down the road or maybe even here if some are right about the price fall and it has been in a downward trend. Over 8% divi though, can it be maintained?
woollies went bust effectively, Ladbrokes won't. Yes it will fall further. How much further? Don't know.
Just stumbled across the article while doing some research on some of the other shares on the lists some of which I have held in the past. Noticed that cheap was a word used by two of the other posters here today.
or value trap? Having just fiddled these into the isa wrapper Im tempted to buy some more but they will be back outside the wrapper, so back with the same problem. Although these have been falling constantly. Now or April?
according to this also http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/investing/shares/11318991/The-cheapest-and-most-expensive-UK-shares-at-the-start-of-2015.html
The Woolworths of bookies. Said for 2years it was heading this way. Bet fair and 365 are the Giants now. A new generation of punters is evolving and they don't bet with lad . Exchange betting is the future always has been. ( bought a multitude of BET at £6.70 two years ago and advised on here to follow suit ) . Love to hear from posters what they believe will turn this sp around other than a takeover? She's listing and if not careful could sink.
For a company that always led the way they are selling platers hunting up at the back of the field It beggars belief that Paddy Power are currently valued at over 3 times the current Ladbrokes valuation. They even avoid betting on financial markets .Massive wake up call required
Just gone sub 103. Yesterday's news re withdrawals from certain markets won't have helped: http://www.sbcnews.co.uk/sportsbook/2015/01/05/ladbrokes-withdraws-from-multiple-european-markets/ GLA! But until we find a new CEO at least, hard to see much grounds for optimism of a quick recovery here.
agreed looks cheap
This seems too cheap. had to buy some!
happy new year to every one who posts on this ladbrokes discussion post, lets hope we get some good news this year.I have been very patient over the last year.
Liberalman, yes different brokers. Added some more this morning safely within the ISA wrapper but not at the monthly top up deal price. Will also be selling a few non ISA shares to end up roughly where I was but with remaining tucked up inside the wrapper pending what the tax man or woman wants to do. Hope a bit of fat fingering doesnt turn out to be a tax nightmare later on.
