Thanks Bilbo - that was the figure I got. So if each one is saving the equivalent of emissions from c16,000 vehicles (as per the press release) that totals over 24m vehicles annually. Let's hope it turns out to be cost effective too to help drive momentum within the industry! A major potential income source for ITM/Linde.
=70*176/8 or about 1540 just to stand still, but if you add a growth rate of 5% per year and get back in line in 10years .....
How many electrolysers of equivalent size needed for this lot then?
Current global ammonia production is about 176 million tonnes per year and is predominantly achieved through the steam reforming of methane to produce hydrogen to feed into ammonia synthesis via the Haber Bosch process

so 3 g/mol of H+ goes to 17 g/mol of NH3. So 20 kilo tonnes h2 becomes 113 kilo tonnes of NH3. So 8000 kilotonnes of ammonia needs roughly 70 electrolysers of that size (8000/113). Does that help?

The pipeline has to be read very carefully, partially because the pipeline can include non-orders. Plus orders in these industries tend to have leadtimes between 18 months and 5 years, ITM will not see the material for some of these orders for years.

I don't understand it either, I used to run a project planning business that paralleld Linde's JV planning business and once you get them working the business just comes in and they are easy to expand (capacity), so I can only think that Linde's sales force is not being motivated to bring them in or businesses are sitting on their hands during this time of uncertainty, which means that Governments are not yet shoving them to change their mind.
Not quite true… The Yara 24MW PEM electrolyser at Heroya, under the nose of NEL, on NEL’s home turf, is a contract between Linde and Yara, as far as I remember…
But, I agree that more should be done faster to stop producing H2 via SMR. Just not sure why we are not seeing more purchase orders being signed faster? Price? Limited production capacity?
After all the price of natural gas has gone up so much that you’d think there would be more of an incentive to order these electrolysers.
I see lots of info about the pipeline increasing with high growth rates, but I don’t see the growth rate on deliveries keeping up.

I think we have to start doing something. Europe is in an energy crisis and especially a methane crisis, as Europe tries to get off Russian methane it is not using the opportunity to reduce methane, merely move to African, North Sea, Middle Eastern methane. The influence of the oil companies is ensuring that despite all the positive opportunies here we stay stuck on the nipple all that happens is we consume a different methane and, guess what, eventually other people will consume Russian methane. But still methane consumption continues, FF companies win.
Meanwhile Linde continues to use methane to make hydrogen and more to the point CO2 which they vent into our atmosphere. Linde have not brought a single existing H2 generation process to the electrolysis process since they agreed the JV. More to the point they continue to quote and build methane cracking plants.
Enough!
