We all know that Mr gambler was coming for a lo ball offer, he knew it's worth more but want to play that game.
This is one of the British Jewels. I can't see any offer less than 7.50 pounds to be accepted by the Board.
What this offers from recent parties prove, there is a lot of worth in the Sp.
Gl all.
Bumbling - likewise. Sold part of my holding first thing expecting a drop. Doh!
DT
Hoping the subject should be 492 and rising not risking!
Very easy to say after the event but it probably isnt a great surprise to see the relative strength of the SP this morning rather than a return to the recent lows. Those lows were in any case a 'blip', so we would likely be higher now without the 'bid'. The last month has forced discussion n the press and by brokers about the qualities (or otherwise) of ISAT. Its not unique in the world but is certainly leader in an exciting field. And its British. I find myself torn between the investor who wanted an £8 bid and a nice profit and a Brit who wants the country to do well rather than give our assets away for next to nothing for the Yanks to exploit as they have done so many times with our jewels.
In many ways this is a high risk company, not least of which is the hardware where several years of effort could be trashed by an aborted launch, or a malfunction in an existing satellite could lead to and RNS and problems for investors - cant easily despatch the AA to fix them!
Good luck to all investors here
Did like you say 2 hours negotiating . In total . He also liked a 2 hour work day . He was dead wood from the outset . He won’t even be noticed that he is no longer there .
Gammybaby - spot on summary IMO.
Yes you did bumble....i was going to - but I think there is support here - if it drops too bunch someone else is bound to pounce again (softbank) however, i think its still in play - even if its another 6 months - the potential positive news flow (chinese deal and Ligado) could send it flying. The Mrs and i got 8000 shares last week and are tucking them away.
Also the institutional holders are probably impressed that theyve rebuffed twice - the lowball offers - if they were in trouble - they would have made a deal. I expect this is not over yet.
Davis didnt do 4 hours work mate! He had only 4 hours conversation with Barnier (apart from that the guy probably worked 100 hours a week for 2 years on this!)- he was sidelined that is why he resigned as well as the fact that May is going for a soft brexit - which looks more and more like we will be a puppet of the EU - as well as lose 40Bln£. May is now a threat - expect to see more resignations over next few days. You really do need to do some research my friend - Go and read (properly) the articles on this.
Want this company, but are all waiting for the others to make their move . I was doing research and the amount of potential buyers for this company is quite long . David Davis has resigned. That’s good news , as he only spent 4 hours in negotiations for the last 2 years . Apparently he only did a 2 hour work day etc . Lazy Government MP . Pound has gone up . Can’t stand May , but at least she’s tough and gets her hands dirty and will do the job herself if she thinks others aren’t pulling their weight . Lazy Davis good riddance to dead wood in my opinion .
I sold this morning expecting a drop. Looks like I got this one wrong!
Obviously there is news leaking about other possible suitors and others breaking cover when someone finally puts their money where their mouth is . Won’t be too long in my opinion
And rising. Hmmm
He may well think no other bids will come in and he can have another go in 6 months. If someone does offer more in the meantime he'll make a mint with his 6%. What's that 6% for though? Is it just a way to win win (get the company or a profit) or is it part of a strategy to keep the bid going in the meantime? It will be interested to see if he keeps buying and whether he's trying to build a significant stake at these low prices to get a significant vote in the future of the company either way.
Great thanks
I stand to be corrected (basically I cant be bothered to look it up on a sunday night!) but I'm pretty sure the BOD announced a divi reduction earlier this year to retain more profits for capital expenditure. Think yield is now c2.0%
They pay 5 per cent year
What percentage is the dividend?
Got this tip from a broker put £20,000 in November 2017 at £7.00. Got out £7.85. Never looked since until this W-end. Must be a good buy at this price plus div. 5.1 per cent I’m getting up early tmrw. I’m in tmrw if price right 5-10 percent down wait and se
Must admit I am a bit mystified by what happened Friday. Clearly he is playing games, but why did he not keep the door open with an unconditional bid (that was bound to fail, 532p with more than half of that in US quoted paper). Why lock himself out for 6 months when he has messed himself and the company around for a month? Whilst I don't think he is a plonker I do agree he is a smart RRRRS! This guy clearly has a strategy, I am sure we have not seen the last of him. He knew this bid would be rejected, apart from anything the UK government may oppose it.
I don't really understand this spectrum thing - is it some sort of licence on frequencies? Will he try to use this failed bid to force the US government to grant him the same thing that Inmarsat currently (uniquely) has?
Will have the buy button ready at 8am
I'm tempted
Tmrw will first thing down first 10 min I’m buying iabout 5-10 per cent down I think it will quickly recover. Like Friday from 10 per cent down 3.00pm 3.5 per cent down
A smart RRRRS . Seeing as how there are mobile operators, hedge funds and numerous other satellite companies keen to do a deal , I would think that the management will be talking in secret and then announce a deal . Then all other parties will have to panic and rush in with real offers . Then we will see how frugality is stupid in the long game .
Which is what is likely to happen
He made a cheeky bid to a company that has a depressed sp, nothing strange there. Your source for the 10 quid is a broker, they hardly know more of the business than a billionaire that is in that business. And how exactly is he out if someone offers 6,50? He can always offer more if that happens and he really wants it.
So mr poker player has moved into the wings waiting for other players to show their hands . Only then can he enter the game again within 6 months . He kept the bidding low for other parties to start from . He offered 3.2 billion when he would of achieved 3.6 billion in new additional business and benefits. Therefore he would have had Inmarsat for free and then some . According to various sources, Inmarsat is worth 10 pound a share to Echostar, especially with spectrum. He therefore needs and wants this company, but his frugal offer may lose him the gem he desires , as there could be some secret negotiations with other parties and before he knows it Inmarsat is sold from a price of 650 to 750 . Well below the value it is worth to him . I hope he loses it as he wasted people’s time with his frugal poker playing
