Bartlebobton,
" A greater risk of cardiovascular disease, life expectancy shortened, fatigue, diabetes..."
Thanks, doc. But (a) no worries about cardiovascular disease: any halfway-trained first-aider knows to to in the case of someone collapsing is to remove any restrictive jewellery like a wristwatch. Under the band of mine is the only tattoo I have, which says ' Do NOT Ressucitate' in French and English. 'Life expectancy'? Don't have one. Consider it a freakish miracle I'm still alive now.
"... plus the whole family social side, take your pick."
There's no family or 'social' considerations out on an oilrig in the jungle at five in the morning, standing on the cement-pumping unit, and wondering how high you can safely raise the pressure to get a 5-year old (and recalcitrant) 'stage-collar' to open before the first stage sets up... Nobody to replace you, phoning base won't help. A few million bucks' operational expense potentially in the balance. Some things just have to be done.
" I'd suggest you're probably close to being brain dead after being awake for 36 hours"
Not far off it.
' and quite likely a liability...."
To anyone daft enough to try waking one early when one's finally got to bed after stints like that!
Mind you, I've spent parts of my life working 'office hours', and also the truckracing weekends oblige me to be awake early, so I no longer party in the paddock as much as I was able to a few years ago. But adapting according to the situation just comes.
Let's just say then, there's the general population and your sleep/wake cycle. A greater risk of cardiovascular disease, life expectancy shortened, fatigue, diabetes... plus the whole family social side, take your pick. I'd suggest you're probably close to being brain dead after being awake for 36 hours and quite likely a liability.... What did the Germans do to prisoners in WW2...continually interrupt their sleep and for good reason ...discombobulation.
bartlebobton,
"....you're pushing against millions of years of evolution..."
Why not? Looking around, I don't see much evidence that Homo Sapiens has 'evolved' very much. Just invented some nifty things to make life more comfortable. (And some other things which have had quite the opposite effect.)
"and your circadian ticktock"
Chucked that old contraption out of the window years ago. Had to. Working 'shifts' on oilrigs isn't easy. Later on, further up the ladder but with far more responsibilities, 36 hour spells with no sleep, although uncommon, were far from unknown. PLus 'serious' caving as a hobby. You can't be 500m down a pothole in the Pyrenees, way to hell and gone, with an ambient temperature of 4 degrees, and expect a comfortable eight hours' sleep on a trip you know is going to exceed 24 hours even if you're all moving at top speed.
It's no problem playing twelve hours' poker and going to bed at five. Just so long as nobody expects you to be out of bed before midday, or for you to rush breakfast...
....you're pushing against millions of years of evolution....and your circadian ticktock
AK-you’ve described troubled sleep perfectly. Thanks.
Wellwell,
"I think a few of us have had some trouble sleeping lately."
Not me! It's waking up (especially if I have to do so early to attend to some preplanned commitment or other) that can sometimes be difficult! Don't let the timestamps of my posts (to which you have to add an hour) make you think I'm tossing and turning and can't sleep for thinking about my HUR shares. Which I rarely think about anyway, before turning in. There are more important things to ponder. Writing at 04:00 or so simply means I haven't gone to bed yet. It's one reason I don't like winter, and why I take a vitamin D supplement. Don't see much daylight at times.
daltry,
"A2UK - Yes really. Friday he goes. Not the whole company! Just him. No problems, why not? He deserves it."
OK, I'll take your word for it, given that you've got some 'connections' in that respect. And as you say, he deserves it. Probably the first 'real' holiday he's taken in ages.
" I'm sure you know him better......."
To my chagrin, I am yet to even met the man. Though I'd like to, one day.
I think a few of us have had some trouble sleeping lately.
A2UK - Yes really. Friday he goes. Not the whole company! Just him.
No problems, why not? He deserves it.
Signing off to watch Amazon Prime.
Don't pay any attention to my rantings. I'm sure you know him better.......
MTV,
"Looks as if your hurting pretty bad there old yin’ kick back and relax!"
Nope, not hurting. And probably more 'relaxed' than a lot of other people posting here. It's a bad habit of mine.
"No point in blaming others because your in too deep here, your a big boy now!"
I'm not blaming anyone for the amount I have invested in HUR. And what makes you think I'm 'in too deep'?
"Give us a nice wee poker story to make us all feel better ...."
If you insist. In one hand yesterday (a small-stakes private game between ten friends) I (on the button) called a moderate raise pre-flop. Small blind also called, big blind and a 'limper' folded.
Flop: 9-4-K. Small blind opened, for one-third the pot. Initial raiser went all-in to the extent of 150 euros or so. Which I immediately called. Small blind folded.
Turn and river were 'rags'. The raiser turned over his cards, which I knew were the aces, or A-K. At which point I showed my a pair of fours in hand. And raked in a lot of chips. I love 'small pairs' when they hit!
Feeling better now?

daltry,
"Dr. T is very soon to depart on hols for Christmas"
Really? Somehow Dr T doesn't strike me as someone who 'departs on hols' very much, especially over Christmas! And somehow, even if he does, it won't be to go skiing, nor anything like that. Not his style, if I've read the man right. Sure, some people at the Lower Eashing and Aberdeen offices may take a break for a few days, but nothing'll completely shut down. Oil companies don't work like that.
Reverend Andy, if you are looking for your "dose of reality" from posters on here, rather than the Hurricane CEO (who has all the info and atated Sept and Oct that the produced water was Trapped water, not aquifer), then you may as well sell up and drive away in the apostles Honda car.
Besides Andy, if the EPS suddenly starts producing more water than Oil, we will all be relying on you getting your Fictional Sky Guy to turn all that water into wine and we will all party.
:-)

RE: Trumpy dumpty pumpty diddle doo...07 Dec 2019 08:06
Looking at the charts TLW takes time to recover after dropping , this was an especially sharp and sever drop so things aint going that bad .
also doing has convinced me TLW will be back up to 175-200 in the next 4-6months .
obviously great news would accelerate a a recovery. 100k bpd and the carp pond being full of fish.
* 'QWC' , APSO'....*
Pardon typos pls. Still a bit tired from playing cards for ten hours yesterday (and winning).
SG2,
" I didn't, and still don't, see why holders sold on that( aquifer- sourced H2O) concern"
And I don't believe that many genuine 'holders' are actually 'concerned' by that old canard. But it's a good scaremongering story kept alive by traders who can profit by spreading unwarranted fear.
We mustn't forget that the 7 'pilot hole' well intersected the QWC, so the company will know what the water the aquifer holds is made up of. And almost certainly, it will have a different 'signature' from perched water currently produced. And lab tests will be done on a daily basis on all fluids coming from the wells, with samples almost certainly being sent to town on a regular basis, maybe weekly, for further tests and verifications. Such tests will be how Dr T in presentations can categorically state that the water is from a 'perched' supply, and not from the aquifer.
Unless he's telling barefaced lies, but I don't believe that for an instant. Hurricane is not known for hiding problems or doubts (cf Halifax 'gunge', the APSO 'rope saga', etc.) so if there was uncertainty regarding the source of the water-cut, I think they'd have let that be known.
Some posters here attended Dr T's presentation at the RGS, recently, and I'm sure that the water-cut got a mention. Were angry voices raised by incredulous geologists when the water zone's perched nature was mentioned? Did people walk out in a huff? Were fisticuffs exchanged? I wasn't there, so don't know, but I doubt it, because we'd have heard about it by now.
I'm just as sick of these share price slumps as anyone else.
My guess is that next time the price hits 60, if I finally top slice (which some smart people here have been doing), the price will soar to 100.
I have no argument with anyone for limiting their risk, reducing their exposure, or being unwilling to risk their money in AIM, with all we know about it.
My argument is with people who actually talk down to posters who are more knowledgeable, and make statements of fact about the company which have no basis in fact and are largely based on the share price.
Some posters obviously don't even understand the financial basics - with one actually saying that a company with $2.5 -3.0 bn in debt is a safer bet than HUR, which is both profitable and debt-free, and another confusing earnings per share with dividends.
I don't hold it against them that they are ignorant, but they aren't in a position to lecture anyone.
Hi Daltry et al; what a difference a week makes!
Fwiw, ( and I can't view the oga data dspp summarised last week on tlf for a few days yet, but have seen his data & plots), I disagree with the panic concerning 6 & 7z water: imv, using a simple fluid- dynamics view, the water-cut rates observed accord well with the perched-water explanation previously given by Hur. I didn't, and still don't, see why holders sold on that( aquifer- sourced H2O) concern. If I too could hock for a few hundred k, i'd buy more too at this price.
Hur will hopefully communicate in a less wooly way for the 6-m update.
GLA all remaining pi's
EV - A2UK has contributed more than most to this BB. I don't necessarily agree(not important) with his views on the main market, but he doesn't make bitter spite remarks just to try to rattle your cage.
Your comments will come back to bite you in the bum sooner than you think.
ADUK, I'm comfortable with the doom mongers. When they turn up, I usually buy like I did this morning at 31.38p. Conversely, I usually sell when the rampers are in full force.
HUR have some great assets and it's only a matter of time before it really takes off. Lets see what this month's update brings.
What an interesting day. Not good what's happening to the SP here, but nevertheless it's nothing compared to the train wreck over at TLW, which goes, I think, to disprove one thing that certain people have been claiming here. That a move to a main market would somehow 'protect' shareholders from wild price changes. Sure, a main market listing for HUR might dampen AIM-induced daily volatility and oscillations, but nothing much more than that. Which is why I believe the BoD were correct in not prioretising an upmarket move which would doubtless take up a lot of time and money when there are other things to concentrate on.
Today also sees a continuation of posts here from some people who I am convinced are merely trying to encourage fear and nervousness. There's the old traders' adage, 'Buy on rumour, sell on news'. But these people seem insistent that we should be selling on the basis of a negative rumour of their own making which they're trying to 'push' as hard as possible.
Funny old world.
You are right Jiff. There is reason to believe that all is going well.
Dr. T is very soon to depart on hols for Christmas, and there is no negative news forthcoming.
This water 'speculation' is just that. There are no water concerns.
Believe what you will. If I had a spare £100K I would be buying right now.
Can anyone lend this pensioner £100K? Pay you back when I am dead.
Going for my siesta now. .BiBi
Rev,
My point in posting was simply to provide what I am aware has already been officially reported, that's all, not sure if you had previously read or not.
Agree look at opposite views etc, but on this issue I do not have any reason not to believe that all is going well on Lancaster.
JIffy, I'm not saying that there IS coned water, just that IF there were to be coned water then it's not a case of we're all doomed.
Personally I don't think there is coned water (following what the co have already put out there as your post references) and that the SP reaction is herd mentality to a big drop. But just because I think something doesn't make it true, so I always look at the opposite view dispassionately and what the implications of that view being reality would be. My post came from me waking up in a cold sweat a few nights ago thinking I could lose the whole amount I've invested here (which to me is quite substantial) and so I set about working out the possible worst case implications given all that we already know.
Rev.
I should also add that Bach Ho is now pumping out around 250kbopd with a similar sized set of reserves (1.0-1.4 billion barrels) as currently the GLA is assigned 2C.
