All makes sense to me why capital is needed. Unfortunately for me I cannot buy through primary bid in my ISA. Will the SP drop to the offer price? Is this the normal for investment trusts or is it seen that the current price and premium to NAV is where GSF is valued. A little different to stocks I guess ? I will be happy to buy from the market at 107p if the opportunity arises. Makes the dividend look attractive.
It dropped to the offer price last time Bananaman2 and will probably be close to it again this time. In auction still this morning as expected, let's see where it comes out but suspect it'll be around 108 mid. K
It seems to be settling around 109 - 110 for now, can't see that holding when they'll be available at 107 on PrimaryBid. Good job it closed at 116 Friday, limited the damage a bit!
Yup, you are right k. It could be even worse if it didn't finish at 116p last Friday. This is the risk we have to take getting involved with aggressively expending companies. They never miss the chance to tap the market for more fresh cash. As far as the investment world goes. I guess this is kind of normal. Now, we are back to square one. Let's hope that this will recover smoothly like last time. Good luck everyone and God bless.
Correction: 'expanding' not 'expending'.....sorry
I believe you used the correct word sidi.
expending
spend or use up (a resource such as money or energy.
I sold a few on Monday and will buy them back through PB. Not that there was any benefit in doing that, but it was a bit of a shock so soon after the last fundraiser. Best wishes.
So the PB offer has closed very early, oversubscribed. I wonder if they will take the opportunity to increase the amount ?
In the circumstances I applied for more than I intended.
Oh, interesting adv11 - thanks. I wonder if they will increase the amount? Should be an RNS tomorrow presumably. This can only be good for the SP going forward.
Yes I've written a note on my spreadsheet sidi - "don't buy except when company is raising funds". Looks like there will be plenty of opportunities to buy discounted shares going forward. I just hope all the opportunities they are exploring are at least as beneficial to shareholders as their existing investments. As adv11 said, it does seem to have come very soon after the last raise. This sector is very hot currently though, because of the wholesale gas price spike.
Was thinking of subscribing the placing tomorrow. Needed to see how the SP holds up but l have left it til too late. Now I missed the chance to top up at a lower price......silly me!
I was also leaving it to tomorrow. Had a sit in a park at 1.30pm to watch the squirrels, and checked my phone. PB had sent a notification to say the offer was closing at 2pm. Bit hectic getting the payment made and application in. Probably get scaled back
Today's RNS makes me think that it was a bit naughty PB closing the offer and rushing some to invest while cutting others out. I presumed both offers were closing together. With faffing about with PBs App and my banking App, there was no time to read small print.
"Bit naughty?"
The offer was over subscribed
So sorry to have offended you Panderman, I hope you get over it soon. Try sitting in a park watching squirrels, it's a great help for a superior attitude.
No problem, be careful with yer nuts.
I don't think the company is particularly bothered about retail investors adv11. The fat cat institutions have been able to gorge on 67,883,824 new cheap shares whilst us lowly PI's had to squabble over a measly 1,163,005 Euro's worth. You can see where their priorities lie. I'll be keeping a watch on the SP this week and dip in if it comes close to the offer price.
I can't really see it dropping much now, unless new investors sell out as soon as they get their shares. My main problem was that once again PB now have my cash for a couple of weeks because they didn't explain it was just their side of the offer that was closing, and there wasn't time to look further into things.
Afraid a squirrel pressed the filter button on Panderman, which avoids further arguments.
Krusty - where would your priorities be?
Adv - I agree. Can see it sticking at 109 til 4th Oct or whenever it is now. Then as you say - will have to see what they decide to do. No doubt some will take an instant profit - its how it is. Just a question of how many but I would think the momentum will be upwards - at least in the short to medium term. Time will tell of course
Personally, I wish more people would take notice of what boxes they are ticking when voting at AGM's. Small shareholders will never make a difference anyway, and even when there is a rebellion, the company usually says they will talk to major shareholders to get their views. But below is what should happen in a fair world. -
If pre-emption rights are in place and you do decide to issue more shares, or transfer existing shares to new holders, you will need to make sure that any existing holders are offered them first. That is the purpose of the pre-emption rights.
Fair point well made Alan, I just think it's a bit stingy when a c. £300m company has gone to the trouble and expense of engaging PrimaryBid to manage the retail offer but then restrict their allocation to a measly c. £1m whilst making c. £75m available to their City chums. Poor old sidi would have bid for half of those if they hadn't sold out lol.
No, I am a small fry. A few £k perhaps but can't afford to buy half £m!!!.......lol
Good to see the SP staying solid. Hope it will head north soon......GLA
As the matter of fact, I suspect adv11 must have bid for a lot and that's probably the reason why the offer closed early....... hahahaha
Hmm, I think you are trying to deflect the blame elsewhere sidi, we have all seen how often you think about adding.
Having said that I may buy a few in my ISA around 4th. October, and sell the new ones when they have reached the magic 116p. Still keeping one eye on a home with a sea-view though, but will probably wait as there only seems to be property with hidden issues on the market at the moment, ie cladding. We were staying a hotel last week and had a nightmare with 4 false fire alarms, probably caused by staff smoking on the fire escapes. On the final one, after 5am on the last night, we became involved in an incident where an elderly lady went head first down the slippery fire escape. Hotel didn't even check up where we were, must have noticed half the guests were missing.
What? You have sold your house and living in a hotel waiting to buy another one? Or are you going to buy your second home?
It does seem that the hotel you were staying kind of worse than the Faulty Towers.........lol
