Just to add mine in.
My first oilie was Mosman in 2014. Bought in at about 8p, took my initial investment out at about 44p when they struck oil. Then I cleverly rode the profits all the way down to about 0.1p, when they basically didn’t actually have any oil at all from memory... I didn’t sell because I was too stubborn to having missed out at the highs. I still have 50K shares sat in my account at £50 - not really even worth selling.
Lucky not to have gone bust though tbf and I took my initial investment back, but still some harsh lessons in actually banking some profit for the time/effort and not trusting to the rampers!
Not old enough to experience dot com bubble but have read about it, started to get involved around 2007/2008 financial crisis, if only I had kept hold of Taylor wimpey from 5p, but I was young and had no patience
I don't disagree that this coronavirus event is somewhat of a bubble, a crazy event where incredible gains can be made, however what I will say, is while many company's might get caught up in the bubble but never actually step out of it, there will be a few that do emerge
Those being the companies that bring a highly successful product to market which completely transcends the company, I'm confident gdr will be one of them
88e was in at like 60p before their first icewine drill, never sold on the highs, only exited after 2nd icewine failed I think
Travelzest, I was in that, I was showing a decent profit when didn't the finance lender just decide to call in their loan, which company could not pay, so they defaulted and that was that, I think that was right?
Atisha….Wow being in NCYT since end of January...hats off to you...If I was lucky enough to be in there...with SP around 30p...say....I would have long rode off into the sunset around 60/70p....Would also be weary getting back in as would keep thinking SP has gone high enough...at 80p odd...hahahaha...Look were they are now...Well DOne
Have a small position here from reinvesting dividends from elsewhere.
Fortunate that they weren't pulled like some have been.
Won't be a life-changing holding for me wherever it goes, but can see profit, and at my level at least won't be tempted to panic sell, will hold and enjoy the (likely) bumpy ride.
Atisha, the dot.com bubble was fun. Trading by telephone, swings of £'s in some SP's just while waiting for a price! Had some good success with Psion back then. Maybe a little late to the party here.
gla
Morning all, Hope you don't mind me butting in. Bought back in here this week after selling at 214p previously. I'm "enjoying" the reminiscing of these failed companies. I was also in most of those mentioned and have had 10 go bust on me so far.
The Covid stocks have been a good play, reminiscent of the Dotcom bubble. Have been in NCYT since the end of January and played most of the others. Surprisingly, HEMO has been one of my best from 2.4p to 13.5p.
Hope this all comes good for you all.
That's it. The harshest of lessons seem to stick the best so won't ever make the same mistake again.
Yep...need to try and ride winners as long as possible....I mean not many would have thought these covid related stocks would go up 8 10 times.....SPs never ceases to amaze
Aha that's it.
I was also in here at 28 and sold out at 35p. Will never live that down. Back in around 180.. Will come good in time.
A lesson in patience that was.
Cheers....no doubt though....Covid related stocks since early april….if lucky enough to be in them...AVCT...GDR...ORPH...ODX....must have been life changing for some...in such a short space of time....What dreams are made of in my opinion
Sure is...thing is overall all...must have lost loads...lost track really...over the years....once in a while get a goodun...was in HEMO from 4p to 10p...over few days recently.....The hope of catching one of these multi baggers over few days/weeks...is what keeps me at it....
JARVIS...YELL...also kaput......just when you think SP cant go any lower...bang....kaput :-(((
Old finger. That's awful mate. Wishing you much more luck here.
AIM is a bit like the wild west isn't it.
Lol just to throw my howler into the ring. I was in 88e. Foolish as anything looking back.
Pmo & shi at near enough their bottom have helped me gleam some back..
And SNG is my fingers crossed stock.
Not been in the game too long. But already licking some wounds and learning.
TVZ...mucked me up big time.....issued an Inta Day RNS....went bust...I bought in on that very morning....lost 6K....about 3 months wages…..could not believe it....Pure scum.....
Lost money in XEL, AFREN but into PMO at 18p last month for a couple of grand. BPC is another one that am invested in and worth to watch. It rose 100% in 2 days after signing a rig contract for a drill in Dec next year! They are fully furnished need for the drill.
I’ve been in UJO and made some good profits there despite some shareholder shenanigans. I think you have to go on the fundamentals and try to balance in a risk which is huge with those types of companies. Definitely only worth ‘betting’ small as you’ll more often than not loose it... research, research, research and hold your nerve if the fundamentals stay the same.
Next week a blue week here I think, hopefully David knows to trickle news every week now as it builds into a diagnostics business at last. I’m so happy to be in this as we have a great business here, UK plc doing its bit, innovation at its best guys!
For me it was Sirius - was all in and lost so much money! Now trying to get it all back again. I will never trust a CEO again - was an idiot!
@saffrob I’ve been in Reneuron for quite some time. They did a share capital reorganisation back in 2018 where each share became worth x100. Thought I’d mention it as perhaps you don’t know if you’ve not followed for a while - means you might not have to beat yourself up quite so much about missing out...

Borders, their first drill in 2012 was on the field they called Darwin I think
It's all flooding back now, not good memories
JPR were delisted. Oh the joys! GLA
Don't remind me
Borders and southern two drills, I can even remember the drilling rig name, leiv eirikson
Falkland oil and gas
New world oil and gas in Belize, side track well
Towers resources off Namibia, most expensive technology going
Kea petroleum second puka well
Disaster after disaster for me
Nice to reminisce ..........sort of !
Good night & good luck
Yeah, XEL....an utter car crash in the end. But valuable lessons learnt.
Think JPR got bought out. Could be wrong though.
