Politico - The US Senate is considering a bipartisan sanctions package against Georgian politicians

The US Senate is considering a bipartisan sanctions package against Georgian politicians. Politico publishes information about this based on the obtained document.
According to the publication, the sanctions bill, introduced by Senators Gene Shaheen (Democrat) and Jim Rish (Republican), will target Georgia's top politicians who are responsible for paving the country's path to the European Union.
"Georgian People's Act" will be presented on May 23.
In particular, Politico writes that the Senate bill provides for travel bans and other sanctions against Georgian politicians who are responsible for "obstructing the country's Euro-Atlantic integration" and "for corruption, human rights violations and foreign agents promoting or facilitating the adoption of the law."
The bill also calls for a permanent suspension of the US-Georgia Strategic Dialogue, through which the countries work together on security and democracy issues.
According to Politico, in addition to targeting Georgian Dream officials, the bipartisan bill also calls for at least $50 million to be allocated to "supporting democracy and rule of law projects in Georgia," and to begin research into "pernicious foreign influences" in the country.

The party’s ruling body, known as the political council, issued a statement on Tuesday in which it insisted that the government would not be blackmailed but also signalled that a way out of the crisis was possible if there was swift progress on preferential trade terms and visa liberalisation.
“Our partners can significantly rearrange their relationships within a year maximum,” the party said. “If they realise this, the relations will be settled very quickly, but if they continue to act in the same approach towards Georgia, it will damage both Georgia and America’s interests.”
Another extract ....
This week the South Carolina Republican congressman Joe Wilson tabled a bill that would start talks with Georgia on a “a robust preferential trade regime” and liberalisation of the visa regime for Georgian citizens in return for “significant and sustained progress towards reinvigorating its democracy”.
The US defence department would be mandated to explore the “provision of security and defence equipment ideally suited for territorial defence against Russian aggression and concomitant training, maintenance, and operations support elements”.
