PJ, I wonder if you could take time to email them to ask if they will update route map to include LUN HRE HRE LUN,and white they are at it perhaps they could put Mwanza where it geographically belongs?
marksman, don't hold your breath TravelSmart was quarterly and so the next issue of the magazine is probably not due until 1st October....
Well spotted, PJMInvest. So – 1 August. Shall we see the new issue up today? Land & Marine were always very good with publishing Travelsmart on the first of every month of publication.
Hurrah at last, after 2 messages on this BB and a further Email direct to Fastjet and at last they have now the correct front page link to our flight Mag Places.
Expected and normal.
Are today's operators
Airways close to securing 6 jets.... http://zimbabwe-consolidated-news.com/2017/07/30/zimbabwe-airways-close-to-securing-6-jets/
Fjetcrazy, PJMInvest.....: – completely O/T! I really don’t wish to belabour the point beyond acknowledging that recent sequence of posts referred to. Thank you both for your kind responses and admirable modesty. Yes, PJMI, it is the collective effort of all of us who post that makes the Board what it is. But, without false modesty, I am just an investor here – what I have occasionally described as a “reckless” one! – and one who has become almost emotionally involved with the company. (Almost?!) But over more than four years, I have learned so much about the industry – and fastjet in particular – from so many others. It is, of course, notoriously invidious to pick specific examples, so to be more general, and while many display the characteristics I described yesterday, I find more pieces to fit the jig-saw when we occasionally read the opinions of, say, a pilot or someone who actually lives in Sub-Saharan Africa. Talking of whom (or which), my involvement with fastjet has made me so much more interested in a (sub-) continent, its people and activities, which had been of very limited, passing interest before, probably not since my schooldays. That will all change when I visit the country for the first time in my life – flying in one of ‘my’ planes, of course! (I own the equivalent of at least one armrest and a pull-down tray in one of our aircraft!)
Marksman, Thanks for the mention, it is the cumulative effort of us all that makes the total result greater than the sum of the individual contributions. You and many others included.
Please IGNORE post 2596 , it was incorrect airport information,
Really disappointing to see our first day get off to such a bad start with three HRE/JNB round trips showing as cancelled , no update on website and still taking bookings for canx flights
Marksman, thanks for the mention, it's always a pleasure to share information as do you such as our Agm , and of course other topics such as analysis of IFM.
Rufiji I agree I have observed it too.
Tomorrow will see the introduction of aircraft nu2 I wonder if BBS will be joining BBM which has been working hard for couple weeks. Tomorrow is also first direct flight to JNB from VFA prices very weak and flights wide open.
Fjetcrazy I respect your point of.view and I agree there is no immediate threat to FJET, but I observe a singular change in economic direction in TZ.
Rufiji, there is no question Magufuli is a Tanzania first Man , I doubt he would go as far as you potentially fear , having said that there is no question in my mind it will be extremely difficult for Fjet to expand further from our TZ base , I can't see how we will even if we wanted to , return to our former regional service s with Air Tanzania now firm grip on domestic and regional EBB/ NBO / Moroni soon to be added Kigali Bujumbura , soon to arrive two state of the art very fuel efficient Boeing 787 Magufuli is behind this drive to have a National carrier for TZ to be proud of. For now I am delighted to see a return to a robust Fjet schedule when our two E190,s arrive , a high load factor and cash positive will be good enough for me, expansion I believe will come from yet to be announced routes
Carbonix, Fjetcrazy, G-BOAE, PJMInvest, Rufiji: Thanks all five of you for a series of invigorating, informative and on-topic posts just over this weekend. I doubt if I’m the only one to appreciate and benefit from such a display of fastjet intelligence!
More aggressive comments from Magafuli on the mining industry. Not sure if he is threatening to shut down mining companies that alledgedly avoid taxes or to nationalise them. No immediate threat to FJET but if the anti foreigner popularism gathers momentum and moves outside the mining industry then there could be concerns if all this noise leads to more demands for Tanzanian control of core industries.
Rifiji Any revenue will be welcome as we have the costs of going there , obviously it would be wonderful if they make a success of it.
Essentially they handle.DHL courier business plus Red.Cross and WFO contracts. To my knowledge.they have no passenger flights
Fjetcrazy, yes they do but I am.advised that Ethiopian and KQ also have the rights, so I have.misled you in claiming a sole operator. Nonetheless competition does.not.seem to exist as almost all flights are North of $300. Perhaps FJET do have the opportunity to carve out a profitable niche.
While we are talking about Solenta, a useful map on their website shows where they have AOCs and operations. Interestingly, in East/Southern Africa Solenta seem to have an 'operational base' in countries where we don't (eg South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya), and vice versa (Zimbabwe, Tanzania). Before we get carried away though, Solenta's fleet is mainly smaller aircraft, and often only cargo. Here's the map: http://www.solenta.com/footprint/
Thanks Fjetcrazy. Wow! This sounds brilliant. Fifth freedom rights can become a real money maker and I am being to feel very positive about my shares. I now think we will expand sooner than I thought once we complete the reorganisation and get the cost savings coming through.
