Good morning Smithy. One more message and that's it. Banter is fine and good fun but when you start to make it a personal issue it's not. I can take your attacks easily enough just as you do on others. I worked in the pharma business for 30 years after leaving Uni and now work as a climbing instructor in outdoor activities and do very well out of it topping up that very good pension from the company I worked for and having great trips to the mountains. I am very fortunate for that and appreciate it.
Reaching buss pass age as you call it is not an end of your life. One day you'll find that out too. As for losses like many others yes there have been some but since all the investments have been small none of them have impacted on anything. Remember never invest what you can't afford to loose.
Smithy - I'll stick around even if I'm not posting. You mentioned furlough once before. I'm not on furlough. I'm retired so wont be heading back to shelf stacking. Sorry to disappoint you on that one. You got that wrong too. As for Covid - 19 I don't think even you would wish it on anyone would you? Take care yourself . I wont be disappearing any time soon. : )
Smithy - as I thought with your reply. It's quite amusing reading all your posts on here. Raises a smile. Nothing will make you see a glimmer of light on anything other than what you say. I'll keep looking in having a laugh. Your views do seem to be in quite a minority on here. Also are you related to Whatamess by any chance or even are you the same person.
You are already wrong several found. Awaiting approval from appropriate bodies e.g. FDA in USA. Surely you are not calling them liars?
Just because a vaccine has never been found within 4 years (or 5, whatever it was you stated) in the past, doesn't mean that it can't be done now. We had never landed on the moon before, until we did.
You have to consider that every government in the world will be pushing for a vaccine, granting unlimited funding and pressure on the regulatory bodies, etc. Everyone and their cat will be working on a vaccine - when you've got all of humanity focused on the same thing, you're going to break down previous records and barriers.
Plus they've got existing templates due to other coronaviruses.
Rollout this year may be less likely, but you can bet that in 6 months we'll have something. I guess only time will tell - no one can state categorically whether we will or we won't, unless they're a time lord...
Exactly, more died from AIDS and we had no lockdowns or economy destruction then, flu pandemic in winter 2017/18 killed 50k extra in the uk as the flu jab was ineffective against it and hey ho no one noticed, now the nation is brainwashed and getting poorer by the day. But never mind certain advisors are doing very nicely from their share portfolios.
Hearty. The death rate Is not slightly down its massively so. More people are dying of flu
Vaccines have been found and are in final testing. Did you know the earth is spherical and goes round the sun. You'd have got on well withe Curia in the 15th century
Almost there! End of November, boom ready for 2021!
Closed your short yet A.loser?
I agree with your views. This is only going 1 way for the foreseeable.
NEX IMHO is a safer option (but still carries risk in these uncertain times).
Good luck with whatever you decide
I'm pretty new to shares and recently bought into EZY @ 4.83. I'm staggered at the volatility. Already I'm thinking of pulling out and topping up with National Express who seem more stable (and probably long term). EZY do seem an almighty gamble. Any thoughts?
Come on Bruce its a deadly highly contagious doomsday virus, 3rd wave coming too, patronizing tv adds to keep the lemmings convinced and scared to go out. Blame the young, omg the students are escaping, round them up and fine them, only a few months ago hmg was producing guidelines for youngsters daily 'on screen time' the way this is going looking at a screen will be the only pastime left. I wonder what the test really shows up.
Unnecessary too many vsriations and not a killer
#that, not "the".
I believe not, after trying for decades (was the rhetorical anyway?).
Did they ever create a vaccine for the common cold?
Smithy - you make arguments which aren't that credible. To say vaccines don't exist and never will is just nonsense. There are approximately 30 vaccines currently in trials for Covid - 19. Three or four of these are in phase 3 if you know what that means. It's never a given that one will work obviously, no one can dispute that. There are other coronaviruses including the common cold and SARS and as Bruce says the speedy production is due to the existence of templates from past research in the area. They are not starting from ground zero. No one would suggest that 7 billion people could be vaccinated in weeks either. The process would take years but your comments just make you look like a fool to anyone with the slightest understanding of the science. Can you not understand that? I await your scathing reply.
Interesting thread, but possibly overly focused on what 'could/might/possibly' be, or 'my medical guess is better than your medical guess'
Thankfully it shows why the markets (especially sectors like this) are so volatile currently and more importantly show all the opportunity we currently have in working the fluctuations.
Take on board all positions, views and input and then place your chips :)
The basic maths behind companies remains consistent, and in this case , with exceptional circumstances, volatilely and uncontrollable external risks for the management team it is an almost impossible forecast to find certainty in!
Therefore sentiment will appear to win the days movements for a while yet.
Supply and demand will win out, if the basics of cash, debt and leadership can survive the intervening period.
For Easyjet, they so far have avoided panic and crisis management, restructured their balance sheet as wisely as foreseeable, kept well placed and guided management commentary to the market reinforcing the governments accountability in the situation .
Note: with the exception of the uncontrollable 'leak' from the 'objective' BBC, who have never had it so good with a captive audience, drama/pessimism and journalist looking for the spot light each day plus their highest ever subscription numbers on I-Player and all just before they have to charge for services and compete with other providers.
The key will be EZJ's ability to control cash burn to the length of an unknown return to near (or new) normal business.
EZJ's advantage is they are a more nimble player in this market, if a new normal is required, history shows they are innovative enough to make opportunity in this new norm.
Take your pick on Red or Black, but the management will be the key to avoid Green 0.....
Debate.... :)
Just look on web sites Novomax, oxford there is a Scottish one, a French one. You will soon prove to be very wrong. Labour party on side too. They have been speedily produced as there was already templates in existence.
agree with smithy here absolutely zero chance of a vaccine in under 5 years its never happened, covid has mutated its much weaker death rate much lower we need to live with it
This will change everything !
The Fear Factor will disappear.
Confidence will be restored.
Lockdowns will stop.
It will be just any other winter Jab
Take it and travel in confidence.
Almost there guys
