I fully agree GFD, but the FSP only takes things to certain point. The first bids will all be in private, but what we would actually class as the final bidding war will be in public. The reason, is because the best bid out of the first ones will be the recommended initial offer. That doesn't in any shape or form mean that is the end of it all, it just marks the beginning of the final biding war imho.
GLA
gfd,
that's the plan
what if the FSP comes up with a best offer of 40p and they announce it, then the day after someone else offers 60p - are we going to just ignore the better offer because it didn't take place within the FSP?
Mac,
I think the general purpose of the FSP is to flush out the best offer in a structured way and then announce it
But, brinkmanship may mean one or more parties might wait for the best "final" offer and then trump it - so I agree with you in the sense it's not like an auction when the final offer is announced a sale is legally transacted at the same instant....
There ticker is MNOD - Hargreaves Lansdown have them np, dunno about others.
They are stuck on my watchlist now, never know what news may flow from where - always best to be prepared.
My broker doesn't do NN shares I think so would get messy with ISA etc would rather not swap or hope to get chance to sell first. I guess it's cheapest source of finance for NN which might mean they could in some way offer the most value in shares, so would need thinking about carefully.
We're all friends here, or at least i hope we are by this stage. This is just a peaceful debate, two sides seem to have appeared here, so provide evidence for the other view.
GLA
To support your side of this debate.
GLA
Provide evidence calamari.
GLA
I'm challenging your side of the debate, that's what happens in debates. It is up to anyone who is looking at the debate, to look at any evidence provided and make their own minds up RMR.
If you can't provide any evidence to back up your side, it doesn't mean it has magically turned into a argument, it hasn't, it just shows your side of the debate may be in a less strong position, that's all.
GLA
It's not an argument RMR. You have your side of the debate here, i have mine. I'm simply providing the evidence to support my side of the debate.
GLA
I think you were misunderstanding me Mac, just to be absolutely clear, I am not challenging your links, I don't need to provide any sources to back up my argument, it is a personal opinion - I fully appreciate it COULD happen I just don't think it will. As I said none of the players here want a battle in the public domain, they will sort it out amongst themselves first.
Players, or potential players, have been in previous bun fights RMR -

GLA
Mac4671 - absolutely Mac, I realise it is possible for that to happen I just don't think it will, I firmly believe that is what is happening right now, it is why UBS will be involved, talking to the parties, letting them know what they need to bid to be in with a shout, going backwards and forwards saying XXX is offering more is that your final number? etc etc. I just think it will all be done behind closed doors and once agreed, announced as a 'fait accompli' - just my view, no real experienced of this or special knowledge, just don't think we will get a public bun fight with the players in this game.
No problem lovelyboy. The quote given is from a IPMI live online presentation, it was a answer given by a member of the audience, when i asked about the Anglo and Plat group battery JV.

@Biddwolf
On the face of it, yes publicly they did scrap the project, but Apple have since gone on to hire 40+ senior Tesla engineers. I remember reading about it last year when my pal got poached. There was some industry speculation at the time that there may be some sort of JV between Apple and Tesla. Mind you I'm not sure how supportive Musk would be of that with the history of talent acquisitions.
Thanks mac for re-posting the links I will look into them.
All the best

Any other country I'd probably agree about them not wanting the Chinese to take it but Russia and China seem to have their own "special relationship" which may work in our favour here.
To support your side of the debate RMR, you will have to provide some form of a source which suggests the option is not available. The lexology source states that it is you see.
GLA
Tend to agree Seadog..pretty sure Dimitry will want out of here to move onto new ventures
Steve. If it was 1 NN for every two EUA then he might.
RMR i wasnt aware negotiations could happen without the posting of an RNS? A submission of a figure is price sensitive annd would need to be published? Happy to be correct by others who are more knowledgeable in the area of bidding and mergers

Can't see Dimitry wanting shares in NN. He has a track record for selling not swapping imho
It is also interesting that we have heard no more about VTB the Russian bank for a while now.
Really? My ears must be going..

My hunch is that it will be a joint venture with NN and their shares for ours. I find it difficult to think that Russia will allow say the Chinese to have us. This way Russia controls the price of what are very rare minerals and much needed worldwide.
