chilting,
To summize are you saying that Egypt and Iran don't like friction in their canal ?
Sorry everyone I couldn't help myself.
Apparently, they are not able to use Suez because sanctions. Crimea have offered to help
Not sure that the Egyptians would allow that - lots of friction between Egypt and Iran - they may not even let them use the Canal - also Saudi part owns the Canal.
Assuming its not going to Cyprus the only destinations it can be going now are Turkey and Syria but it may just unload some crude in Turkey - enough to bring the draught down - and then go on to Suez.
I wonder if she's heading for Baniyas oil port in Syria ? Or will she transfer the load to a few smaller tankers and they will deliver to Syria ?
Syria bound no doubt ! Trump will kick off
Krakenoil,
As the crew are not British and if they were they would no doubt be released, the Iranians holding our empty tanker matters not very much.
The subtle change of course could have big implications.
Apparently, needs to be offloaded some before heading into Suez as its too deep in water. As usual with Trump, all hot air
Ah the mad man with the moustache - given a chance he would nuke the lot of them!
Perhaps the Iranians will sell the crude to Israel for a big discount - think about it...
Would laugh my ass off (and would not be surprised) if the tanker is in fact empty. Small fee for missreporting numbers compared to a full cargo of crude.
Crude will flow. There's always a buyer.
Look for increases in nearby fields in foreign countries. History tends to repeat itself and pipelines are normally underground and unknown to people who dont operate their own satellite system.
We're in the dark.
Just bring on the fireworks IDGAF
Sorry forgot the link -

If she is going through the canal there is still a problem - her draught is 22.1m - the maximum draught for the canal is 20m.
Iran is no friend of Egypt and the canal is part Saudi owned so they have a problem - the crude would normally be offloaded in Suez and transferred down the canal on a small tanker before being transferred back again or sold in Egypt but clearly that cannot happen this time so I guess we might get a STS in international waters???
Looks like she is still heading towards Syria
It looks the drama is over - AD is in the shipping lane heading for Suez - well away from Syria - probably heading for China or another Asian destination despite the sanctions.
This is going to be all out War I reckon, why our government allowed our British Tanker and it’s crew to be held hostage I don’t know. Both should have been released at the same time. The Iranian’s hold all the cards now.
Looking forward to the 6th Fleet turning up, and why is our tanker still being held, could it be they won't release it until theirs has arrived at where ever it may be going unhindered. You might call it blackmail, shame on the weak.
That’s going straight to Syria and with a middle finger up to Trump.
A whole new kind of tanker tease..
gkb
Its impossible to be 100% certain.
The problem is that while we have to assume AD hasn't altered course we but we don't know fast she is travelling.
gkb47
I think it is the tanker north west of Algiers - position received 8 mins ago.

gkb47 - She has gone out of range for normal AIS but has been picked up more recently by satellite AIS - looking at Marine Traffic she is probably the tanker shown due north of Gouraya on this map.

Well what a surprise, Stena Impero hasn't been released so they are obviously keeping hold of it as insurance, the US is watching closely so good luck with the silent routine goats.
