The tree has had a good shake, people have had their fun and now it is time to get serious about investing in what is a very good company. I have a good position in this stock and if the price drops i will continue to add shares. If it goes up i have harvested enough for a good profit to make this investment worthwhile. With just 2 weeks away from opening I am predicting we shall see some large buys in this stock in the coming days. I note that Cineplex is also down ( with a firm so sure they could achieve a CAD 2Bn deal the market doesn't seem so sure! Good luck everyone.
@indepth Thank you but no need to cherry pick for us, people are more than capable of reading the whole article in context by themselves.
I think we have at least another week of drops. Certainly 50p and it wouldn’t surprise me 45p either. I too have a relatively good position here at 55p and will add sub 50p. It will achieve 100p + IMO but that might take at least 3 months. Patience is a virtue here. GL everyone.
Fantastic article
We should see a bug bounce tomorrow morning
US markets very strong today
I prefer 'bug' bounce... Conjurs an interesting image in my mind's eye.
Expectations need to be lowered I feel. The SP is where its at for a reason.
I say no more big bounces and a very slow moving SP, for the next 6 months.
Ash, how can you realistically say that when we are still seeing 5% rises or declines on a daily basis. This is one of the most volatile stocks i've seen and nothing has happened to change that. If anything this has been suppressed by daily infection rises in the US, investors are waiting for the right moment to pile in what is a wait and see on reopening dates and blockbusters, waiting to see if there will be further delays.
When Cineworld gets more clarity on it's future which will come off the back of US infection rates falling, that's when we'll see a large move up. I don't think there is anything unreasonable in assuming that when Cineworld resumes trading and the demand is established it wont easily gain at least 50% of it's pre-covid share price. That's where the money is to be made. If you're looking for it to push even high to pre-covid levels then you may have a longer wait but somewhere between £1.20 - £1.50 will be the short term sweet spot in my opinion.
@Ash, your predictions are no more founded than anyone else’s, so there is an element of hypocrisy/irony to your post. You say the share price is where it is for a reason....yes, because they’re closed! Which will at some point change.
This share has potential to swing either direction in a large way. If reopening is delayed further, that could easily see us to 45p. But If the opening goes ahead as planned and studios don’t further delay big releases, CINE could see 30%+ gains within a very short time frame. We’ve already seen it break £1 a couple of times and you could easily argue that with a fully open portfolio of screens, £1 is grossly undervalued.
MOOla, spot on with the target price IMO. I feel that if US cases hadn’t spiked we’d already be well on our way there.
I don’t buy all this “people won’t want to go to the cinema”. The fear factor of covid has dropped significantly and people are yearning to get on with life. Cinemas can run profitably on low capacity (I can’t remember the last time I was in a packed screening). This makes social distancing easy enough for them. I’m hoping masks will only be obligatory in reception areas as masks may put some people off. But I for one will be taking my kids to the cinema as soon as they open and I’m not alone in this.
Who's in favour of changing the term Predictions to Guesses ;):)
Leisure / Travel is doing OK today...
Looking good!
The way the SP's for leisure / travel stocks are on the up right now could indicate that the Oxford vaccine news will be good... Someone knows something (obvs).
I'm not so sure,
Its up today about the same amount as it was down yesterday.
It's the Moderna vaccine
Indeed...
I'm hoping for a double whammy!
Could be another day of roller coaster effect, until it goes up, stays up, and goes up some more, then it's time for the up.
Uk purchased 65million syringes. Oxford have positive news. I would be so proud is the vaccine came from the UK.
Fingers crossed. Pray For A Vaccine.
@indepthwins I think I posted my views on time frames in a previous post but I consider short term to be a matter of months so I'm saying the next 4 months roughly. I think we'll all agree none of this is a precise science and anything can happen but I'm very confident based on everything i've seen and read we'll see these prices or very close to them before the end of 2020. End of October - Mid November.
The share price was up there with those numbers taken into consideration indepth, I never said it would recover 100% to pre covid levels in that time i'm saying 50% is reasonable as a pure recovery play especially without the drag of the Cineplex deal. I know you have a different opinion to me though so i'm not trying to change your mind, just saying what I see.
@indepthwins I'm all for negativity when it's warranted but even this post of yours irked me. Hardly a substantial admissions drop in 2018-2019:
2014 157.50 million
2015 171.50 million
2016 168.30 million
2017 170.60 million
2018 177.00 million
2019 176.10 million
Although these are cumulative Cinema figures. For Cineworld, total admissions decreased by 10.8% year-on-year to 275m at the end of December 2019 so fair point there.
Prayfor, where did you get the information that 65 million syringes have been ordered?
I honestly don't think July 31st has been priced in as much as you think because of the uncertainty. Because of the US infection spikes, returning to lockdown and if Tenet gets delayed again then reopening may be delayed too. Quite possible. If that happens we would likely see a bit of a dip but maybe not by as much as you would assume because of how it hasn't been fully priced in.
To me it feels like people are just dipping their toe into Cineworld stocks and are not fully committed because of the uncertainty. But the interest is there.
