Well PinkEye, I am flattered beyond measure. Yes you've caught me out - I took a MASSIVE short on CINE. I had my eyes on CINE for a while and I encourage you to read all my posts for reference. You have many questions and some of them you will have to learn by mistakes - that's life. Enjoy the chill pill.
John,
I am afraid you talk absolute carp!
To now try and claim your investing is personal when you made a big statement that you took a “big short out on Cineworld” is ridiculous. You contradict yourself.
You have also said you want to invest in Cineworld but at a lower price. Your worlds not mine. But suddenly this is personal...
So it’s a simple question, surely no price would be low enough if you truly believe it will go bust.
You really have to remember all the different lies and stories you tell as they catch up with you.
Johnnybolox,
RE tips.
You will still be here, good tips, bad tips or pg tips, lol, posting the same old
rubbish about cine ( I will look into it further blah, blah blah )
Okay folks see you folks bright and early.
Any tips on other shares would be appreciated as I've been shaking up my portfolio recently to good effect.
PinkEye, I understand that you are curious and you keep asking people what and how they are invested, however, there are a couple of things to remember: i) investing is a personal thing (i.e. private investing) and ii) whether long or short, the information required is the same, so getting a single info, will just make for bad investing.
Is what I don’t understand from JohnT and Ocean, on many occasions you had said you want to buy in at a lower entry point, but even 30p makes now sense if it is going bust.
A Lower entry point is still exactly the same total loss...
So either you don’t believe it is likely to go bust or you do and do not plan to invest so then why do you keep trolling..?
@PrayFor, no one is asking you to all sell up. It's more about having a balanced view.
I've actually enjoyed reading some of the updates regarding the coronavirus vaccine by some, however it's all been positive news only - I've not heard anyone else talk about any negative progress in the trials. The same goes with therapeutics and diagnostics. I've also enjoyed reading about the governments and countries covid response and lockdown rules, again it's all been about how lockdown should be lifted, no one is sharing if and why they might reverse or would continue. It would be nice to get a real view.
This is fine. Sqme as all businesses right now. We come of of covid oh and money roles in like it did before.... just people taking the pee at the moment and trying to prey on the weak.
No, I don’t believe there are different shares in Cine, they are all ordinary shares.
Damn we best all sell then.
PinkEye, different share types give some investors rights over others.
Number of cinemas in the UK and US vary for CINE and the approx values are:
UK: 775 cinemas of which 128 are owned by CINE ( 16.5%)
US: 5500 cinemas of which 546 are owned by CINE (9.9%)
Should CINE disappear, that's still approx. 90% of the cinemas in US and 83% of the UK that can show the movies. Even if AMC and CINE both went bust, there will still be enough cinemas to show movies and alternative methods of viewing becoming available in due course.
So HSBC and all the other institutional investors all get wiped out.
All shareholders are treated equal.
I think HSBC will decide to put up some money before they let that happen.
@indepthwins So so wrong based on personal experience in the 90's unfortunately, they may let you believe that to be the case!
Odeon and vue own about 120 cinemas between them in the UK, if that.
Odean is owned by AMC.
Indeed guitarman001 there are other cinemas and they will probably pick up the slack if need be, should CINE shut cinemas.
Danosaur, at the moment the catalogue is fairly thin until Christmas with maybe Bond being the only movie that will do okay - but over a long period will pull in some revenue. The remainder of the catalogue is likely to be shown at later dates, potentially at the cinemas that survive this pandemic.
We've entered into the very real possibility that the way we watch movies has transformed. A major question arises; revenues may never get back to normal and declining figures could push the share price down to very low levels for a long time to come. Do long holders hold for months/years? If investors have the ability to ride this one out, then great, but from what I'm gathering some people won't be holding on for extended time built on hope and ramping.
I'm not a ramper, but we all have our theories of what will happen with Cineworld.
My theory involves not so much the company, but the media. We have a massive back catalog of big movies coming out in the next year. What would happen if AMC and Cineworld went bust? How would people watch these movies?
Don't say streaming, because they might as well give most people a free download because that is what will happen.
I think it's worth going long for just for this.
@johnht This is from all the gang that sides with my views; The long Cine views.
Pick with someone of your own 'SIZE' (*__*) ---->>>> https://media3.giphy.com/media/Ogxe3jSdivKbm/giphy.mp4
Love it or Hate it...... Hahahahaha... NoFear
I was recently trying to understand the mentality of the Bungle, George and Zippy rainbow brigade who are ramping on here. I think this has been made into a fine art by some. If you imagine how an $8Bn debt can be spun positively, then here you will find it whilst chasing rainbows. Might cheer some of you up:
