Missed this. How have you read the appeal??
Been hanging for ages. My arms are killing lol
This move’s up fast when it’s ready. Just hang in here.
Thanks I hope we are all rewarded in the end
Sorry to hear that. I feel your pain.
i think we are all now thinking that Silver420. Never thought we would be in the low 20's. I have too much invested here and down over 80% to sell now.
I agree we need more blockbusters on a regular basis but I don't think this is the problem. As the business restructures and finds cost savings, it combats the reduction in films so technically profits would remain healthy. The issue is simply the appeal. If we win or if it had never happened the SP today would be more than double. If we lose, we're completely screwed.
To me, that's the only issue and it's a massive one. In hindsight I would have sold as soon as we lost originally. Now, the SP is so low - I may as well gamble and hold.
Big releases here and there has not and will not drive the price up.
The industry needs MORE MOVIES on a regular basis.
Look at any month you wish for this last one year period.
We dont have half the number of releases we previously would have had.
That's why (largely speaking) we have had many months at about half revenues we (the industry) wants. A few a bit better maybe 65 - 70% area and so far ONE pretty good month in December of last year (Spiderman doing incredible numbers).
Now let's have say 3 months of c. $800m - $1bn in North American box office with near double current monthly releases and I then believe we could have some price movements (though appeal still makes it hard for Cineworld) We could see other operators in sector show SP growth to let is see what to expect if we get positive appeal out the way.
* No local cinema for me tomorrow as it's a trip to bigger one for the full 4DX experience for Top Gun.
Actually quite excited.
Absolutely Tegop, all we can do now is wait and hope :)
Thanks HNS wasn't aware of that in the foreign judgments enforcement treaty for UK/Canada, that's good news and I can't see why Mooky and Appeal team won't be onto that :-)
Shorts have infinite risk. And the cost of borrowing makes it hurt even more.
I am confident CINE will post a positive earnings on August and give us a plan for cutting down debts. On the court case side, i have read the appeal and am more confident the three appeals judges will not give an unorthodox or extraordinary decision.
The rise will be explosive, this sp has been long suppressed. Anyone who opens a short here places themselves at extreme risk imo (then again, the same could be said as a LTH lol)
I'm hoping for another James Bond, where the SP rocketed up to 120p, just on the film hype, but I hate to be a negative nellie, but I don't think it will go up without some sort of REALLY big stimulus from CINE themselves. Amazing 1H results, court case overturned, settled outside or whatever it might be. Hopefully I'm wrong, and the SP takes off quicker than an F-18, off an aircraft carrier.
As deltalo has stated it will be a great weekend for income this weekend and hopefully the next few months, but is it going to make the SP go up ?
Deltalo. I used to be in Kdd. Diamond company. We used to get excited everytime we found a big diamond. The fact that I'm still driving a 3 wheeler car and flying a 36 year old Cherokee Piper at weekends, gives you a clue how it wasn't related.
Ps. For anyone that was in Kdd...our CEO was last seen in South America, Panama hat, aviator sunglasses and big brown envelopes. We as share holders are at the bottom of the food chain. We escape when funds managers decide.
@All Kap - I can't see a way that would be possible given how the appeal process works. However you do wonder if the appeal was to fail and this goes for enforcement in UK courts if there is any political weight to bear on enforcing such a decision that is likely to enrich shareholders of a company and could potentially lead to loss of jobs for 1000s of workers here in the UK and US
Hi HNS and all LTH do you think that studios can put pressure on the judge in order to decrease the amount due in order to save Cine otherwise if Cine collapse all studios will see their income collapsing. 2nd best market in the US 1st in the UK knowing that the UK contribute lots in the global Box Office if you compare to France and Germany?
Thanks
Maybe but unlikely it will do anything for the SP and that's likely to be the case for the foreseeable unfortunately.
Great film release’s make a big difference as it bring in the largest revenue, Top Gun will probably be Tom cruise’s best opening’s in his career this weekend. This will bring in a large amounts of revenue for Cineworld.

If the sp was linked to the great film releases, we'd be at 50p plus. It's not related. This is not a normal situation. It's very basic thinking, if anyone thinks this is the case. Yes, it should be but its not so.
Court case yes. Big fund managers haven't started buying.
Wishful thinking atm. It's down most days.
About time this sp started to move upwards, the films for the rest of the year are excellent and will reflect on Cineworld’s revenue and liquidity.
@bb / Mountainous- I am probably overreaching here but if you read the Canada/U.K. foreign judgments enforcement treaty one of the grounds for dismissing a foreign ruling is where there is a concern around the trial process which I would assume could include how the judge was selected. If that was the case then it’s possible Mooky and co continue with the appeal and if unsuccessful could use this conflict to dismiss the ruling at enforcement stage.
@wellington no one is accusing Conway of being “bent”. Rather was this potential for conflict/ bias overlooked when a judge was being selected. There doesn’t have to be any malevolence as mountainous said could have been subconscious bias the point is that’s why judges often recuse themselves from cases that pose a potential conflict or may seen to be - it isn’t an admission of guilt.
We have posed the question to Cine lawyers if they were aware of Barbara’s family member having close personal and professional relationships over years with senior Cineplex leaders and in light of that was she appropriate person to preside over the case
I could be wrong but personally don’t see how it can be but it’s up to Cine and their lawyers to consider how they want to use this info in their strategy assuming it wasn’t known to them before.
@mountainous yeah I have mixed feelings about not being able to see it this time :-(
