Betterlife.
Last June, CCL published their results which were record beating at the time.
They dropped 15%
Over the next two days they gained 25%
Over the next month, they gained 40%
They went from £11 to £9.50 ish to £13.50 all within a month ish.
The issue is the Interest Rates are staying higher for longer, therefore, theory again, everyone will have less money for longer, which in turn means that they will cut back on spend, which means that they won't take lavish cruise vacations...
Really, as I've said 101 times, everyone feel that taking a vacation now is a "right", people will never make the same mistake as they did and "save up" if they can't afford it. They will put it on a credit card and go, and worry about it afterwards.
At some point, this will just drive upwards, the only danger is war or another covid.
Calm down Mrs Mannering
Get ready to load up with more
Norwegian are down over 15% . I have never seen anything like this drop from in same day after strong results . So what does this mean for us when we have our result ?
Ffs , what the hell going on with travel stock ???? Strong result form Norwegian and down over 11% what the hell .
Shocking
And CCL is not finished yet - a further 20p drop from above price coming.
Sorry, Bot.
B
Well, per usual, I timed that well at 1060.!
So with the selling 60k shares, and then re-buying, with the sale price, then fact that the spread kills you on a bulk sale, the fees, the new fees to buy, the stamp duty to re-buy again, I am now the proud owner of.....
wait for it.....
200 extra shares........LOL
They didn't miss their forecast, they missed what the analysts predicted..... BUT.... Earning Per Share was more, so they actually made more money than what the analysts predicted, by 36.5% actually....... so the drop per usual, is unwarranted.
AND, the price for CCL and NCL are hugely discounted because apparently they aren't getting the revenue and profits, despite the fact that they are producing record breaking revenue and profits like CCL.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) Q1 CY2024 Highlights:
Revenue: $2.19 billion vs analyst estimates of $2.24 billion (2% miss)
EPS (non-GAAP): $0.16 vs analyst estimates of $0.12 (36.5% beat)
EPS (non-GAAP) Guidance for Q2 CY2024 is $0.32 at the midpoint, roughly in line with what analysts were expecting
Gross Margin (GAAP): 36.7%, up from 29.7% in the same quarter last year
Free Cash Flow of $548.3 million is up from -$388.7 million in the previous quarter
Passenger Cruise Days: 6.11 million
Market Capitalization: $8.12 billion
And all the doom and gloom doesn't look as if it's dented enthusiasm for the viking ipo
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-30/cruise-line-viking-holdings-ipo-is-said-to-fetch-1-54-billion
Yes, nice little summary here
https://www.reuters.com/business/norwegian-cruise-lifts-profit-target-robust-cruise-vacation-demand-2024-05-01/
Norwegian missed forecast. Down nearly 9%…
Brutal…and us down 3.5%
Https://www.nclhltd.com/investors/news-events/press-releases/detail/595/norwegian-cruise-line-holdings-reports-strong-first-quarter#:~:text=Generated%20total%20revenue%20of%20%242.2,above%20guidance%20of%20%24450%20million.
If I can't fathom it, i always go with....More sellers than buyers. Explains it every time 😆
So far, another 5p down. What makes share worth 30p less today from yesterday?
B
Strong results from Norwegian, on a day like today are they good enough to pull Carnival up?
I got back in at 1060, so lets see.!
1010?
That will CCL down another few pence, then.
B
Reminder Norwegian Cruise is reporting at 12:30 UK time, expected strong results
It seems like interest rate cut will drag on even longer .
But what makes me laugh , they can allow 95b war funding approved. What a totally nonsense.
Oops, sorry, Spain is on the TE path, too.
B
Good morning all,
JJ, I think you’ll only see a partial eclipse. P & O are offering a cruise to Iceland where, weather permitting, there will be a total one. Am thinking about that one.
B
Well I've done my part, just booked a 2 Week P&O Cruise to Spain in 2026 (lets hope the share price has improved by then) but quite clearly these are a decent buy at these levels if they're going to throw an additional £150 at me for £1000ish investment (I have more than that). Never seen a solar eclipse before, so fingers crossed it is sunny that day.
I hope this week will be a nice positive week . It needs to keep on track .
