And it does have the option for quantification of viral load beyond the standard yes/no answer (as per Paraytec website)
You missed my point - the BRH equipment can be used with cartridges developed for a huge range of different pathogens. It's like a nespresso machine for diagnostics....and we know how successful nespresso has been!
DaProphet,
Thanks.
Did the new tests evaluated published, and if so please send me the details?

The Paraytec test will likely complement the LFT not compete against it to start as they have very different application strengths. Chances are the individual cartridge cost off the Paraytec test will be less than the LFT but the kit will cost to start with. The Paraytec test is far more adaptable than the LFT and therefore will appeal as a proper piece of diagnostic equipment. If it works as well as it is being suggested it could revolutionise the diagnostics industry whereas the LFT is, as Carl put it the filler to enable the world to get back to work until something permanent comes along.
bbrq648..
that article was published feb 04 and no doubt the study data was a month or so before....
the new tests have only just been evaluated..
Castlepaul13,
Thanks.

DaProphet,
Your statement “new breed will be surescreen/ avacta/ mologic/ visiteck in the next few weeks” don’t tally with Castlepaul statement of 3 out of 40 have passed first assessment.
Please explain.

Yes bbrq of course ...

Castlepaul13,
Can you provide the path where you got only 3 out of 40 LFT test kits evaluated by PHA and University of Oxford made through first assessment?

There is nothing wrote in stone..
The Government are looking for a Technology like ours...
New strains for detection ..
I have had only one vaccination so far ,we will get different strains of covid from all over the world ..
Changing the covid vaccine constant like the flue jab..
Testing Testing
Happy Days
What should they not be used for?
At present, lateral flow tests are not authorised for “serial testing” of school pupils who have been exposed to a confirmed positive case of covid-19 to enable them to attend school (pupils who are exposed to infected cases have to isolate).
The government had hoped that serial testing would enable it to reopen schools but soon abandoned such plans. (It blamed the U turn on concerns over rising cases of the Kent variant, but it seems it still plans to test the strategy in a small number of trials13). The MHRA has pointed out that lateral flow tests are still not authorised for use in this way.14
The tests also cannot be used to shorten quarantine of travellers arriving in the UK, under the government’s Test to Release scheme. That can be done only with a PCR test results
BRH Test no brainer
New Technology....

Castlepaul13..the new breed will be surescreen/avacta/mologic/visiteck in the next few weeks..
Castlepaul13..
that study was subject to using Innova lateral flow tests i believe....
How accurate are lateral flow tests?
Lack of a central registration process and of comparative data means that Public Health England’s Porton Down laboratory and the University of Oxford have been tasked with evaluating the sensitivity, specificity, and kit failure rate of lateral flow tests. Only three of 40 test kits evaluated made it through the first assessments.2 And only one of these has been evaluated in field studies; it is still unknown how the others work in the real world.
LFT Tests
Where the tests have been used among asymptomatic people in real world settings, the reported performance has indeed been lower. In a pilot study conducted in Liverpool 60% of infected asymptomatic people went undetected, including 33% of those with high viral loads.
WHO says that lateral flow tests are more likely to detect positive cases when viral loads are highest and patients are most infectious—typically, one to three days before the onset of symptoms and during the first five to seven days after the onset of symptoms. WHO’s Essential Diagnostics Test states that negative results should never be used as a basis of decision making.
Public Health England’s evaluation of the Innova test showed that its sensitivity was 79.2% when used by trained laboratory scientists, 73% when used by trained healthcare staff, but only 57.5% when used by track and trace centre staff employed by the pharmacy chain Boots.4 But performance should improve with experience
