Totally disagree with mask wearing for this pandemic.
As far as I am concerned there has been a total over reaction to this disease. I understood the initial reaction, but 10 or 12 months later, the numbers are showing that the death rate is super low for the vast majority of the population. The younger you are the less likely it will harm you.
Lets do what we do for every other “thing” that harms us, which is to weigh risk vs response.
I am of the older generation, I don’t want anyone to be forced to lockdown, or change their lives, lose their jobs or their businesses that they have worked hard to build or wear a mask because of a fraction of the population like me are at risk.
Bryn: great post.
Irene: I'm in my 7th decade of life and a grandad a few times. In the old days we were brought up to respect the older generation. During the Covid crisis it could be as simple as washing hands and wearing a face mask to protect the more vulnerable such as me. But that's up to you. My previous post was a suggested call to action and not me being 'preachy'.
have a nice evening
Starchild
Star and Bryn I couldn't agree more... Unfortunately there are alot of ignorant people out there and alot more di*kheads.
star - all of my family work in the NHS - my son in law is an estates manager and was charged with sorting out the temporary morgues. The rate of infection is increasing as a result of more mixing in public - whether we see a sharply increased death rate remains to be seen.
Annual flu season is upon us and as a result will see an increase in fatalities as a result of that - some will also have Covid symptoms so they will have causal symptoms and will be recorded as such.
This is a global pandemic - man-made or otherwise, it is here and will remain with us. Do we need to live in fear?
Of course we do not need to live in fear - we do however, need to take reasonable precautions which includes wearing a facecovering, whilst that in itself will not stop a viral infection it will reduce the risk.
Like wearing a seat belt will not negate serious injury or death, we have them to reduce the risk.
The old Green Cross Code was created to reduce the risk, as were pedestrian crossing, NCAP and airbags are precautionary measures - common sense MUST prevail whether we think a conspiracy or otherwise.
Anyway getting back to BPC - I do want to be able to visit the area in the not too distant future if we are able to. Hopefully we will receive some information in the next 4 weeks.
As always - stay safe ;@) Be Kind - Keep Smiling even if no one can see you smile, it will exercise your facial muscles if nothing else.
Was certainly not planning on agreeing with Starchild about anything this afternoon, but life is full of surprises. Post recommended.
I am wearing a mask when I go out whether it’s mandatory or not.
I’m not sure how being considerate to others for the common good is now being mocked by some who are calling it “living in fear”, but it needs to stop....................
When I wear a mask over my nose and mouth at work, in public and in the stores/Supermarkets/Pharmacies/Offices - I want you to know the following:
• I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus.
• No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem.
• I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same.
• If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place.
• Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". It makes me caring and responsible.
• When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member allowed at their bedside.....Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little by wearing a mask.
I copied and posted......Who else will follow me by posting this on social media and to their friends/relatives and workmates?
Be safe

Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis has announced the resumption of commercial and social activities on
11 more islands, excluding New Providence. Among relaxed measures include: the allowance of weddings
and funerals to be held in religious institutions, as well as the resumptions of approved gym facilities on the
islands. According to the prime minister, commercial and social activities may resume on Andros, Acklins,,
Long Cay, the Berry Islands,Grand Bahama, Inagua and Mayaguana with physical distancing and mask-wearing

As The Bahamas furthers its reopening and eases restrictions, the prime minister encouraged residents to
follow all health protocols, stressing that the most effective means to mitigate the spread of the virus is
wearing a mask and social distancing.
He called facial masks an “anti-viral scud missile” against the virus, adding that some health professionals
have indicated “the mask is just as effective as the vaccine”.
