Bit hypocritical when you jump down people's throats for posting rumours about being in certain games Girdz.
You said you were unaware of the details so I was letting you know the actual situation, you are welcome for this gift of knowledge that took me a couple of minutes to look up, something you could have done before posting it as a 'concern'.
Get a grip guys. I specifically stated it was a RUMOUR Ffs.
No need to get all precious over it.
if it screw up "craxked" versions - ALL THE MORE REASON TO USE IT, REDUCING PIRATING.
Not sure why you are bringing it up if you haven't read it Girdz, it was an error message due to the user changing game files to alter the banners in game... and if anything it's a good thing that there are measures in place to stop people turning off the adverts.
And before you point to the reddit post that was made about half an hour before I post this, that's related to a cracked (pirated) version of the game, so forgive me if I get out my tiny violin for them.
Thanks Girdz, that sounds like an isolated case, when researching bids a while back I came across similar on a forum, turned out to be users that had custom ads they wanted to use but were blocked once Bids were involved, for obviously reasons, so the thread had tips of how to get round it, although as I recall only possible off line.
Not sure why you would think the other games are no longer being served ads by bids, Dirt 2.0 has a hardcore active following, although not the mainstream sales of F1 I would suggest a very active and not insignificant fan base - last time I watched some eSports dirt clips boohooMan were being advertised.
In advertising what is more valuable - 50000 viewers engaged for long periods of time over and over or 500000 that dip in and out for a few moments?
It is why gaming is so attractive as an ad space IMO.
So a post that may, or may not exist on Reddit from 1 user means the tech isn't working? I'm sure more than 1 of FM's 1m+ players would have posted online if Bidstack's tech was crashing their game.
Girdz- you need to explain these rumours about Bids tech. By all accounts the tech and infrastructure is very good and a relative strength for bids. My areas of doubt relate to the commercial management of the business - notwithstanding that this is a new and complicated market to navigate.
Well I don’t even know ads are being served in grid and dirt, but by all accounts some one on bidlievers site saw a post on reddit which stated they were getting frustrated with FM as it kept crashing and reason stated was to do with Bidstack.
So totally unrelated source saying BIDS has been an issuing playing a game.
Admittedly I’ve not seen the post hence why I say it’s a rumour
What rumours Girdz, I only remember talk of reporting impressions/insights from open world games being a difficult conundrum to crack, what issues have effected ads in Dirt, Grid and FM?
You might say Anzu aren’t making progress with top game developers but they are signing up deals left right and centre. Talk about frictionless scale - Anzu won’t have to do anything one their SDK is in the games and advertises are buying space in game. Revensues will be coming in, albeit small by nature of some games, but it will prove to big aaa developers that everything is working.
At the moment there are rumours of bids tech not working properly which is pretty rubbish bearing in mind they are only serving FM at the mo
Cozzy - indeed we will see but I have questioned the value of neutrality for some time. WPP only has a relatively small minority stake in Anzu. This will not deter other groups from working with them. I hope you are right that Anzu aren’t making much progress with top game developers.
Tredcareful, bang on I recall(I think) jd talking about wanting the right kind of invester, well some of us here have been hell of a good with our patience, do we qualify?
YHAL - good posts and agree, been a while since anyone dared mention frictionless scale but that was what many of us came for and still hold for, and that requires the right set up no doubt.
But the SP has been in decline for 12 months more or less and shareholders naturally crave some sort of confirmation that things are on track - normal for nerves to fray and a few doubts to kick in, to keep the SP stable near term they need to offer something firm.
They may feel it doesn't matter and that it is all about end game, but many will be lost along the way with that approach, the investor facing PR needs to sharpen up a bit IMO.
The platform matters.
Ultimately BIDS could give away their SDK for free and competitors can go swivel.
An open market infrastructure for ad bidders to match to games with desirable demographics for the product target market and trackable imprints to determine costs and returns. Much bigger than any single game and very lucrative even if only skimming low $ per.
A proper market, low friction.
Its more than game here, game there.
It is the infrastructure for future industry use.
He who gets the infrastructure right wins.
Ok! But are they putting the infrastructure in place to scale from?
Its more than a game here, a game there.
Opportunity will gravitate to a properly structured platform, over time, and scale.
Whoever gets the infrastructure right will win med-long term.
Again what "good progress" been claimed by Anzu? They haven't signed any triple A studio's / games? That's what is going to determine who wins out in the end here. Of course WPP can push Anzu as much as they like but that won't determine whether a triple A game studio will open their inventory to them. As James has said Anzu lost their neutrality when the aligned with WPP. Bidstack have gone to great length to explain the importance remaining neutral in all parts of this journey which to me makes perfect sense. You can't expect other media agencies to want to use Anzu inventory when they're aligned to WPP but WPP should have no issue using Bidstack game inventory if they're looking out for what is best for their clients. I suspect this factor would hold considerable weight when the major games studios are deciding which in game advertising platform they want to use - time will tell.
Cozzy. In meetings with brand owning clients and media companies - where I've seen the progress of other players in the market. WPP's sizeable media agencies are actively pushing Anzu (as you'd expect). Dentsu isn't finding life easy at the moment outside Japan and is the least relevant of the major holding companies. You are right that going after the titles with the highest daily users is a good strategy, but others players are going after these games as well and claiming good progress.
Sorry what makes you think competitors are moving ahead? They've signed a few games.
The main thing the market / advertisers are going to care about is signing the big studios and the big games. That's going to take more time. Bidstack have been absolutely clear they're going after the titles with the highest daily users. Whether that's the right strategy will only be proved in time. Personally that's exactly what I would be doing if I were Bidstack with first mover advantage and the people they now have around the business to help achieve that.
Patience.
It's not about newsflow Having a Laugh. It's about making real, palpable progress. A lot of patience is being shown. First mover advantage is slipping away. Competitors are moving ahead.
No one will operate with a company that is desperate to release bews in every twist and turn of negotiations. Patience, its coming IMHO and more than just a single signing, again imho, dyor.
Infrastructure is needed to be foundation.
