They are symptoms of a corporate incoherence that will ruin this airline. And I'll tell you why. The new uniforms are for the new low cost, low spec crew to make them feel good about only getting £11,000 a year plus £2.60 an hour. This together with driving down standards across the board, is at odds with charging premium prices. It beats me how the city has fallen for Walsh's idea of creating a low cost airline and charging premium prices. It's a model that will not work. You either have to be a low cost Ryan Air, or a premium Emirates. No one in the middle ever survives. And of course once this is an airline wreck, Walsh will be long gone with his bonus.
I just can't see them making money they really need to look at their ticket prices ..its way too expensive unless your company is paying for the exorbitant fares i don't hink many people will be paying over the odds for their tickets. Other carriers are far more competitive . I recon could hit 180p.
Striking new uniforms for all cabin staff apparently.
HOLD, but if the price falls to 210p im going to top up, real value in BAY and only reason this is falling is the general market conditions. (my view DYOR)
Cabin crew will delay strike until Christmas to hit forward bookings.
still value in BAY, 250+ by the end of the year then good figures come may time and we can look at 275+ IMHO.
It was around 224.5p at closed on 27/07/2010
Could somebody please tell me the price that BA shares were @ 27th July 2010? Thank you.
US Governemt yesterday gave its ok for the tie up between british airways and american airlines.........time to put the strike problems to bed and hopefully some upward movement
european commission havetoday approved the british airways / iberia merger and the us government are next week expected to ok the tie up with american airlines
Yes, EZY are double BA, but I wouldnt touch EZY at the moment, over the next 12 months good news to come from BA so am happy I am in under 200p. 275p + within a year IMHO
is currently double (413p ) of Bay..206p.
OUT...............!!!!!! LOL
1-0
What I should have said is that WW hasn't lost his bonus but doubled it. The remuneration committee say he will get double if he resolves the strike. Which of course he must in the end. So isn't that a clever thing: create a problem, then get your mates to pay you to clear it up. Please JJ26 say you're not fooled by all this? ( By the way I see I put 'a ex pilot, which of course should be 'an ex pilot, Glasshouses and stones come to mind!)
So, dear Willie gives up his bonus - poor diddums! Wise up. Even a ex pilot like him wouldn't be so crass as to rob the coffers after losing millions on a strike he caused in the first place. And what's a few grand when you plan to pocked millions - then run from the plane wreck. And JJ25, best keep quiet about the share price because it's just a bit of profit taking. Look at the trends. BA shares have fallen 64% since WW took over, whilst the FTSE is down 21% over the same period. And he's only paid out 5p in all that time. He screwed up Air Lingus and now he'll screw up BA and that is disgraceful. He talked himself into the job by saying he could break the unions, and he may or may not, but meanwhile he's driving down standards for quick buck taking whilst driving away premium passengers. He'll leave BA in a no-man's land between low cost carriers who know what they are doing, and premium carriers like Singapore who know how to treat a premium paying passenger, as BA used to do until WW got his hands on the brand and his snout in the trough. (Note, it's 'You're Wrong', not 'Your Wrong')
i would imagine willy will walk away with a VERY large bonus at the end of his mess.probably more than make up for the 3 years he has not taken the bonus.how do you think the shareholders would feel if he took the bonus at this time?willy looks after willy(look at his track record).spanish unions wont put up with him.
Cant agree with you Willy is trying and will sort out lots of issues that have needed to be sorted for years .Also giving up your bonus like he has shows he is doing it not for himself but the shareholders- up again today !
BA WAS a great company until that fateful date october 1st 2005 when the worst CEO in british history took the helm. the share price and morale will only rise when this guy has gone. its one disaster after another and guess what JJ25...................HE"S ACCOUNTABLE!!
No JJ25, you wake up and smell the blood as Walsh kills off a once great company with a thousand brainless cuts in his desperation to slice out a bonus.
BA are still a great company being brought down by the unions once they wake up and smell the coffee this will be a good share to have
The way things have been handled by the management of this company I am surprised there any shareholders left supporting such company. If it to make fast bucks, dump Walsh and head for the Falklands 3. From reading what folks are saying, there is nothing left, except rags. Will still not fly BA
I look forward to it, let's see what happens shall we. I'll hold you to that, but of course it will be merged with Iberia by then, which could wreck it anyway and will be difficult to define. Thanks guys!
I agree, Wilfie. Also, I just heard he's now seconding ground staff as cabin crew in a plot to out-source ground duties. That's going to cause another rumpus. Rumour has it he is driving down the cost base and price ready for an MBO. He failed at this with Air Lingus and he'll fail with BA, and bust the brand in the meantime. Either the board is complicit, or dumb. BA has been the proud flag carrier for Britain and for Walsh to bust it is disgraceful.
i WILL fly BA again, only when that idiot Walsh goes!!
